XF Winner 2011 cannot compete for Xmas #1

The winner of next year's X Factor will not be able to challenge for the 2011 Christmas number one, it has been revealed.

Due to the launch of the US version of the singing contest, next year's ITV series will not begin until November, according to The Sun.

This means that the final would not take place until March 2012, depriving the winner of the opportunity to take part in the usual end-of-year chart battle.

Previous X Factor winners Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis, Leon Jackson and Alexandra Burke have all claimed the coveted festive number one spot, but last year's winner Joe McElderry lost out to Rage Against The Machine following an internet campaign.
I'm pleased about this, we don't have to have a cover or a mess of a noise at number 1

Awful news. Not about the chart battle - but that the show has been moved forward.

X Factor always marks the start of the countdown to Christmas for me :(

Great news, X Factor was taking away from Christmas not adding to it so I'm glad it's been delayed so we don't have to suffer another cover. Let's hope they'll do something interesting with the winner's single as they'll be competing against harder competition in a normal week release.

I am pretty disappointed that they are changing the start just due to the American version. Surely the UK should take precedent as this is where it started, I agree that X Factor was always the countdown to Christmas

Thinking about it, they probably will get the Xmas number 1, Simon will manipulate it so the live shows start just before Xmas, so the previous series winner will come back, release their single at get # 1

+1!

Haha, I think they should get Rage to come on during one of the live shows.

Kerry 29-08-2010 01:07 AM

Good. I'm sick of them dominating the Xmas charts.
