C5 To Screen BB12: Announcement Expected Soon

Richard Desmond owner of The Daily Star and now Five tv is expected to make an announcement shortly that Five will be screening the next series of Big Brother.

It's about 90% certain that Five tv will take over the show next year following talks with Endemol. If all goes according to plan the announcement is planned to coincide with the finish of Ultimate Big Brother.

No further details at this stage as the deal hasn't yet been finalised, but it's looking more and more certain that Big Brother will be back on our screens next year under new management.

This is from a source inside The Daily Star and as yet cannot be confirmed.

If they do take it over I think they should give it a rest for a year or so.

Jords 26-08-2010 11:00 PM

Fantastic news but a year's break would do it really good.

Too soon after the whole 'ultimate housemate' crowning.

ElProximo 26-08-2010 11:04 PM

Here again I think we are still waiting for what is more a 'confirmation' that a deal has been made and settled.
I'm not sure this means C5 is actually and certainly bringing us back another season of BB next year.

Should go on a break tbh.

Really needs it, considering they will base Big Brother 13 and beyond on BB12's ratings, IT NEEDS A REST!

Otherwise the ratings will be sh*t!

They need to give Channel 5 some time to relaunch itself, people still think it's bollocks and don't know about the new owner.

They need to let people know sh*t is changing, and then put on BB12 in 2012.

See! Even the years agree.

So no different to the news 2-3 days ago then.

Jarvio 26-08-2010 11:07 PM

If they do take it over, then they need to make a significant change - and that change is - vote to save throughout the entire seires

BringItOn 26-08-2010 11:08 PM

seems pointless with this ultimate series now :(

Big_Kahuna 26-08-2010 11:16 PM

I imagine channel 5s effort of BB to go as follows: 12 prison inmates in the house. If they walk or are evicted then they go back inside. Winner gets freedom and book tokens. Ian Huntley to be in CBB later in the year.

Five have dipped their toes into reality tv twice with 'Back To Reality', which I thought was really good, and 'The Farm' which was also reallly enjoyable, both also had 24/7 live streaming so Five have shown they are capable of making a decent stab at it. Just a shame the viewing figures were so low both series were axed and no one hardly remembers them.

The Daily Star haven't printed it, it's just come from a source who works at managerial level.

Again...I won't get excited and get my hopes up until we get official confirmation.

Yes - one of those who makes up the lies! :joker:

I hope it gets at least a year's break, 2 would be ideal. I will miss it obviously but not showing it for a bit and then relaunching it would be good for BB.

CaudleHalbard 26-08-2010 11:34 PM

I doubt the same format will be retained. It's a bit tired and predictable now.

Needs a complete revamp.

Shasown 27-08-2010 12:55 AM

Wouldnt look at 5's previous attempts at reality TV shows as an indicator for any future attempts, sponsors were reluctant to touch Channel 5 because of lack of UK coverage initially, after full digital changeover, increased sales figures for sky and freeview etc they will have a lot better coverage.

Which in turn means if the viewing figures for 5 pick up sponsors will be tempted, that in turn will hopefully more money to offer for a decent series of BB.

The deals already done they have agreed future licencing with Endemol. Only it wont be released till after the UBB finishes after all it may cause viewing figures to drop if its suddenly announced its not really the ultimate BB. This in turn would be seen by potential sponsors as them taking on a turkey.

So it is in 5's best interest to let Channel 4 hype it up, and leave more people wanting more.
