Final Destination 5!

Is anyone else excited about this movie?

I loved the first one, prefered the second, disliked the third, and hoped the fourth would redeem the franchise but sadly it didn't.

But this time I'm more excited about this one for numerous reasons. The new writer is Eric Heisserer who wrote the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, which I'm told was one of the better remakes of recent years. The director is Steven Quale who worked with James Cameron and has a better understanding of 3-D films than David R. Ellis did on Final Destination 4. And Tony Todd from films 1 and 2 is returning. :D

My only criticism is its working title of '5Nal Destination' but maybe that'll change.

'5nal Destination'?! Don't like that at all!

Will see what it's like but I'm starting to give up on the series tbh.

Yeah, apparently it's the trend with Scream 4 being labelled as 'Scre4m'.

I was hoping no. 4 would be better because of David R. Ellis returning as director. Both his films weren't just about killing teenagers, there was more of an age range and it made it that little bit mature, but no. 4 just rushed straight in to action rather than set-up the story, and the music was rushed and frantic rather than the eerie, suspenseful music of films 1-3.

I read some interesting articles about the writer and he's confident he knows why the first 2 worked and that he'll get over the repetition of films 3 and 4. So that and a good director hopefully means it'll be a goodun'.

Release date is August 26th 2011, so it's sooner than thought too

Lol it was supposed to be the last but despite the bad reviews it did quite well financially.

Hopefully the title will change because I remember the fourth one was originally called 'Final Destination: Death Trip 3D'

I wonder what the plot will be

Tom4784 29-08-2010 01:45 AM

They should have called it a day after the 2nd one.

Lol, I like to be literal.

I liked that in the first film you never exactly saw why the plane crashed, you just witnessed it all going awry and got the explanation later. I think that's where films 2, 3 and 4 are different because they spent time following a lot of careless obstacles. In particular, the fourth one wasn't just one car flipping in to the audience, it was the weak fence, the slippery oil spillage, the wrench, the poor woodwork, the weak concrete etc. It just seemed too unsafe to be real. Atleast the first one, and second, were a bit more subtle.

You should have seen it then, It was awful.

LaLaLand 29-08-2010 03:52 PM

Which FD was the one where the plane blew up?

I watched that the day before I went abroad for the first time, scared the life out of me!

I do like all of them but the series does seem to be losing momentum.

Lol, ta. The guy's been hired to write the remake of The Thing as well so the studios seem to think he's capable of resurrecting horror franchises.

FD1 was the plane crash
FD2 was the motorway accident
FD3 was the rollercoaster collapse
FD4 was the race track disaster

Lol, I foolishly watched all the first 3 just before going to Florida. The amount of highways and rollercoasters there plus the 8 hour flight. Was kinda glad to be home lol

I'm not sure if i'll watch 5, as the sunbed scene in 3 still to this day makes me feel sick :(

Sick as in "What a horrible way to go"? Or sick as in "This film has damaged the credibility of the others"? Lol.

*SPOILER!*

It's been reported one of the deaths in FD5 involves laser eye surgery. That could sound tacky like 3 and 4, but it could be done as well as films 1 and 2 were

Tindie 29-08-2010 06:31 PM

It not going be called 5nal Destination,

Eric j posted on twitter on 13th july . that 5nal Destination won't be tittle and and the movie will have pass ref from old movies.

3 > 1 > 2 > 4. That's how I see the series. A 5th instalment? After the 4th was called THE Final Destination? Lame.

Beastie 05-09-2010 10:58 PM

I seen 1, 2 and 3.

I would rate these 3 as.....

1 >> 2 >> 3 lol

I havn't seen 4.. but it looked dreadfully tacky when I saw it advertised. I still want to see it though!!

I hope the 5th one is going to be as good as 1 and 2......

Jordan. 05-09-2010 11:00 PM

UGH. Not another.

I actually liked the first 3 films but the last one just killed it.

HBB1508 13-09-2010 01:10 PM

Wow I love all the FD films but seriously thought 4 was the last one - can't wait now for 5 to be released. They are the best comedy films ever - not sure if they are meant to be though :)

DrunkerThanMoses 13-09-2010 02:26 PM

4 was terrible
