\'Seaside Special\' Task

The housemates have been given a 'Seaside Special' task where they each have to learn a variety act over the next two days. The show will finish with a group rendition of popular song 'Bring Me Sunshine' in the style of a barbershop quartet. If they impress Big Brother, they'll be rewarded with a beach party!

At least this has put their minds at rest that there's going to be an eviction tonight, because they've got 2 days to practice!! :hello:

Alex has to master the accordian :dazzler:
Jade has to learn to be a ventriliquist
Jonny has to learn magic :joker:
Kate has to learn plate spinning

Should be interesting, especially watching Jade trying to talk without opening her mouth!

Mairi 22-07-2002 05:10 PM

This task sounds like a lot of fun, Kaz.

Each of the acts they have to master seems to be tailor made for them. I can't wait to see them perform, especially Jade!!

I'm also glad that it's taken their minds off the idea of an eviction coming up as I don't think there will be an early eviction this year either.

that sounds lkke a good task it should b fun 2 watch we'll ave 2 wait an c:flower:

This task is quite similar to what the housemates had to do around this time last year. When Helen had to learn guitar, Dean had to cut hair, Liz learnt the airline skills and Brian was taught how to flamenco! That was funny!
Although this year, they arent each others skills.
It should be a good laugh watchng them and the party sounds good, they had a final part last year when they all dressed up; lets hope this was is fun!:joker::colour::joker:

Don't take this the wrong way, friends, because I love the girl, but if anyone can continue to talk even when her mouth has stopped moving, it's Jade!!!

I like the idea of this task but at the moment i have the urge to wrap that accordian around Alex's neck! IT'S DRIVING ME MAD!!!!

kaphc 22-07-2002 07:49 PM

:-) I heard the accordion too and I had to switch BB3 off!!

That's a first!

Oldgit 22-07-2002 07:58 PM

I think that Alex and the accordion suit each other. They both make a whining. moaning noise most of the time!

kaphc 23-07-2002 08:00 PM

I have just watched most of the summary on E4 on the feeds and it was pretty good.

Jonny chose to do his magic in a very understated "can't be bothered" sort of way, but his tricks were good. I wonder if he didn't want to be accused of playing up to the cameras. jade irritated the hell out of me by making babyish "ooh magic!" comments all the way through.

They cut to adverts when Alex did his accordion but he seemed very good when he was practicing.

Kate came on to do her plate-spinning. She was quite rubbish, but they put some Greek dancing music on in the background and so she had a laugh and hammed it up a bit.

Before Jade went on she went through this totally false routine of "What am I again, an accordionist?? Am I?" Kate has obviously lost patience with her - she said "you know what you are Jade" and then Jonny told her the word "ventriloquist" again. Jade was quite good, she took the mickey out of herself, some of the sound was unfortunately cut though.

Then they did the barbershop, but just as they started, E4 went to another ad break (huh!!). As they started, Jonny, Kate and Alex were singing quite well and Jade was just putting in all these mad fill-ins and looking a bit stupid.

All in all, I'd say Alex, Kate and Jonny all came out well and Jade was more annoying than funny.

:hello::hello::hello::hello:

avriljayne 23-07-2002 08:07 PM

I hope that they quickly take the accordian away.

Yes, Alex did master it well but I am afraid that I am getting fed up with hearing the same tune over and over again

Just like I had to turn off the other day when Jade kept singing

I think they ought to leave "Bring me sunshine" to Morecambe & Wise from now on

Avril :flower:

WILDCHILD 23-07-2002 08:07 PM

Thanks for that kaphc.
It is so obvious that Big Brother are gonna give them a pass - they are not going to pass the opportunity of having a final party for the housemates.:nono::laugh::nono:
PS: I can imagine Jade being annoying when doing it!:spin:

Amy 23-07-2002 08:23 PM

Well what a task it was  i enjoyed that but i agree with you Avriljayne, lets hope they do take that accordian away  Lets hope they take it away right NOW!!!!!!!

Lol Oldgit, too true....!

I would love to try plate spinning, I'm sure I'd break every one of them, but I'd have fun doing it!!

WILDCHILD 23-07-2002 09:45 PM

Looks like they have passed it.
Well Done housemates!!

I agree, Wildchild ...... well done Alex, Jade, Jonny and Kate - excellent entertainment. :hello:  :hello:

Why, oh why couldn't we have had more tasks like this throughout BB3 - it would have made it far more enjoyable for me anyway. And the housemates really seemed to enjoy practicing and performing the task (and entertaining the viewers into the bargain), just like last year's did. PLEASE take note for next year, BB producers!!! :spin2:

There's a good round-up of each performance on the C4 site if you missed the 'show' - click here to read it.

WILDCHILD 23-07-2002 10:14 PM

I think, without wanting to admit it, the producers have learnt alot about this years show and what they should and shouldnt do in future series.
Thats why I reckon next year is going to be a fantastic show in terns of format and rules because the producers have took risks this year and have discovered what works and what the public like and dont like.
ROLL ON BB4!!:dance::colour::dance::colour::dance::colour: :dance::colour:

I really hope you're right, Wildchild.

We are all supposed to learn by our mistakes and, let's face it, the producers have made more than enough of them this year.

As long as they burn the bars on bonfire night as mcginn suggested on another thread, set the new housemates some good "bonding" tasks right from the start and make them earn their shopping money every week instead of giving them exhorbitant amounts, BB4 could be well worth waiting for.

The producers reckon this series to be a great success, because of the ratings, so they are likely to try and make the next more like this year's than Big Brother 2.

Dean, last year, was considered boring because of his guitar playing so they prevented the housemates taking in musical instruments.

Next time, I think, more of the housemates will be similar to Jade because she's the person who has characterised the show the most this year. Big Brother will supply the housemates with a large amount of money for their shopping budget so they can buy booze, booze and more booze. As far as the producers are concerned, drunken revelry equals high ratings.

The producers might even limit the show to under-30s, or just have one token over-30, because of the lack-of-impact Lynne and Sandy made on the proceedings this time.

The housemates will be even more aware of the situations and aspects of character that make Big Brother contestants popular or unpopular, so they will be even less likely to behave naturally.

It’s pessimistic but I can’t see the next series being a big improvement.

Getting back to the beach party, i wonder what it will look like in the garden, i hope it looks good and the housemates have a good night with a few drinks!!!!!

WILDCHILD 24-07-2002 10:27 AM

James - you could be right. I guess we will have to wait and see. I will be waiing in eager anticipation.

Is the beach party starting during the day or at night? I would imagine it being in the day because it would be more likely to have a beach party in the day.:flower:
Should be a pretty good last Wednesday in the house.

I LOVED Alex's accordion! It was the funniest part of the whole task! For a couple of episodes, it was really funny when every now and then one could hear him play.:laugh: And when he even took it to the diary room! And played it to sleeping Kate and Jonny, and Kate applauded...

Jade was also really amusing with Phil! And what about her singing, OMG! Jonny and Kate were boring.
