If Five weren't [apparently] buying BB, would C4 have ever bought it again?

And if so when would they? After a year's break? Five years? Ten years?

DigitalSid 05-09-2010 06:37 PM

Not a chance.

Even if their new programming completely failed?

I doubt it. They're trying to kill it off now - why would they ever want it back? :(

_Seth 05-09-2010 06:53 PM

Doubt it, tbh BB will never be saved - the beast should just die IMO.

Patrick 05-09-2010 06:54 PM

Security were there - But went in far to late
that Proved Ch4/Endemol Failed 100%

Beastie 05-09-2010 07:04 PM

I think I clicked the wrong one. lol

BigBrotherfan4ever 05-09-2010 07:05 PM

No i dont think they would.

Patrick 05-09-2010 07:17 PM

Well, I think personally their new shows such as Nottingham Hill will fail.

Let's look at it like this, Channel 4 is very much not watched by alot of people, Big Brother as bad as BB10's Ratings have been, it's still their biggest show and it's a fact most people will see their adverts for the C4 shows during Big Brother in the summer.

Channel 4 have good shows I mean I would of never heard of the TNT Show from 2009 if I didn't see it in BB10, Or 8 Out Of 10 Cats!

The only way Channel 4's new batch of shows could do well is if they advertised them during Summer 2010 and they didn't.

So they've ******ed that up now.

Now, I personally DO NOT think Channel 5 are buying Big Brother, I feel quite bad for the people getting their hopes up for BB12. Because it won't happen.

If however by a miracle Channel Five DO buy Big Brother 12, we all know and it has been said before by Desmond that they would only do one series [BB12] and would only consider extending the contract to more series if BB12 got reasonably good ratings.

And if Channel Five does buy Big Brother I'd expect them to air it next year unfortunately, and this will kill the show.

Channel Five has a very bad reputation sadly, actually not sadly they deserve it.
Studio Five is the worst show I have seen, Sorry Arista.

But I think Desmond needs time to put things into action, show people what he's made off and revamp this train wreck AND THEN air Big Brother.

Just jumping straight into BB12 in 2011 will be a disaster and unfair as the ratings will be horrible thus killing any chance AT ALL of Big Brother 13 UK.

And if Channel Five did air Big Brother and it was a disaster of course Channel 4 would never ever consider bringing it back, ALTHOUGH this does depend on how their shows do.

In about Five or Ten years if they are still in bother and their new shows are a disaster and Big Brother hasn't been bought I do think they'll bring it back and it will be VERY different where as if Channel Five bought it in 2011 or 2012 it'd be similar.

But yeah I mean, if Channel Five didn't buy the show and Channel Four's new shows are horrible, I do think we'll see Big Brother but way way way in the future, I mean we're talking 2020.

They'd keep trying and trying until they found something that works. Its shelf life has long expired and if Channel Five take it the ratings will just go down and down and down and it will fizzle out in a year or two

You don't know that tbh.

It's a possibility yes but there's also a chance it could be big on Channel Five, look at it this way.

Channel Five are even less watched than C4 so if they got something like 3 Million for BB12 most nights, that'd be a big deal for them and it'd be their biggest show.

mkdfan 05-09-2010 07:23 PM

I think they would have renewed the contract but after about 10 years and done the whole "BB IS BACK" thing.

Channel Five isn't available as widely as Channel 4 is and people just don't watch it, well because its Channel Five. Shows that move there from another channel after being axed always loses a large proportion of viewers. Big Brother on 5 will do what Robot Wars did a few years ago

Channel Five won't even get 3m viewers for the final let alone each night. People are under some mad illusion that Channel Five will restore BB and its just not going to happen because the producers will inevitably be the same but with a smaller budget

Yep.

No I think they want to cut all ties with it now, it was fairly obvious they were getting fed up of it since after the race row the quality of the show in general went down.

I'd laugh though if when it moves to Channel Five and goes through a major relaunch, it gets huge ratings and nationwide press interest. C4 would be kicking themselves.

Jase. 06-09-2010 04:26 AM

Nope.

luminoussun 06-09-2010 04:28 AM

the top guy at ch4 hates bb he has stated that he wanted to remove it the day he took over....BASTARDO

Firewire 06-09-2010 05:21 AM

Nope they won't. They just leave it to die.

Channel five have tried a number of reality tv shows, including one called "Back to Reality"

It was an utter disaster

They had one called the mole, who remembers that?

And if I recall correctly, one where contestants were locked in a prison and the prize went to the first person to escape. (I am not sure of the name of that one)

Channel Five is undergoing cutbacks at this time, so I can not see it acquiring this franchise.

Let's face it, Big Brother was of it's time, at the beginning of the 21st Century.

We are now ten years down the line, and sadly time for everyone to move on...

Sticks 06-09-2010 07:37 AM

The prison one Channel Five did was Jail Break. It was won initially by three women

History does not say what happened to the others (Does anybod know)

Due to poor viewing figures it was never recommisioned.

So like Back to Reality, there is no way C5 could ever do Big Brother and it would have to be done by a cable company, which limits the number of viewers available.

BB-UK is history
