Are you money driven?

:wavey:

Like in a job, would you change jobs just because you make more.

Would you work loads of hours just for more money etc etc?

ILoveTRW 06-09-2010 11:15 PM

Sure, my old username wasn't ILoveMoney for no reason.

It was most likely cos there was an MTV show called that lol

Claymores 06-09-2010 11:17 PM

Yes - and it's brought me lots of misery in my personal life because I always chased the money. Bad mistake

Beastie 06-09-2010 11:17 PM

Oooooo interesting thread.

Well.. I am content in my job :) I get paid an allright amount per hour!! I get bonus too! so the quicker I work the more bonus I get which means more money!!

However.. at work.. I just want to make sure I am quick enough doing the job I am doing so that I don't "underperform" rather than just for the money...

I don't mind doing overtime at work :) but.. in life.. I am not just money driven if I am really really tired then I would choose to say "no" to overtime! but I am a hard worker anyway! :)

I like to work hard for the money I receive. As long as I have money.. enough for what I need.. and saving a good amount per month or whatever for the future then I am happy :)

I think it is better to be in a job you enjoy and get paid a bit less.. rather than be in a job you hate.. and get paid a bit more.

However the job I am in now is the most I have got paid from any job I have had. lol

Well yes, but thats not the point.

Beastie 06-09-2010 11:21 PM

I mean money driven.. it would be nice to win the lottery or win any amount of money.. but that is pot luck.

People have to appreciate and make the most of what they have already got!!

Boothy 06-09-2010 11:30 PM

I am yeah. I can't see myself being happy in life without a job that pays well.

Claymores 06-09-2010 11:31 PM

You can work 100 hours a week and move locations for promotions and be relatively high-up in what you do by early 30s. But, if like me, you'll find you're blown-out and ruined your personal life.

Kerry 06-09-2010 11:33 PM

No. Sure I'd like to be a little more comfortable but I can't miss what I ain't had. It's nay bother

One of my Nans favourite sayings - "Money comes in through the door and love goes out of the window"

30stone 06-09-2010 11:42 PM

I really like having money.. and would be happy to change jobs for more (though thats probs because i dont really enjoy mine)

i love saving money.. im not a fan of spending it in small pointless things like id never buy lunch at work, i have people i work with spending like 7 pound a day on lunch at work.. and i am there eating my food from home..
and then go and spend like 6 pound every other day on cigarettes to, couldnt do that seems like a waste.

I enjoy buying big things..

My car, my tv etc, was nice to go buy things outright without having to get a loan or finance on it.

I enjoy having money couldnt imagine not now.. I really want a beter job where im making more.

I'm thrilled when I buy myself a book :joker:

30stone 06-09-2010 11:48 PM

lol.

I try not to spend money on things i dont need so i can save a bit more..

Only things i pay every month are
Petrol
Gym membership
Phone bill.

Parents dont make me pay rent, and insurance inst due until november..

I try to save as much as possible every month.
Wouldnt say im well off at all but im pretty comfortable for a 19 year old.

King Gizzard 06-09-2010 11:49 PM

Honestly, no

30stone 06-09-2010 11:51 PM

I also like the fact that being like this with my money means that i can buy nice things.

My next big thing is going to be my holiday.
Im going to book a holiday, gunna be 5 star hotel in tenerife for 7 days, 620-690 pound per person. Will be great :)

Err I know ridiculous!! If you can't afford it.. don't have it!!

I mean yeah in the future paying for a mortgage for example is fine.. but like.. I couldn't have a car or a sofa or whatever on finance.. if I can't afford it in full then I just won't buy it!!

Don't want to ever get in debt!! lol

Yeah I take my own food to work too.... feel sorry for smokers.. wasting money on cigarettes :nono:

I like to spend money.. on.. usually on cheap dvds..
Sometimes clothes and that... then there is petrol.. lol

And going out.. don't drink much though!

30stone 06-09-2010 11:55 PM

I dont drink at all any more really its a one in 3 months thing..
If i have take away it will only be with my parents, and they will pay for it then i wont buy myself.

Im so tight.

Only thing is i enjoy spending money on my girlfriend.. ill go out and buy like 50 pound perfume just out of boredom..

LemonJam 06-09-2010 11:55 PM

I'd rather have a job that paid poorly but I enjoyed than one which paid excellently which I loathed.

Kerry 06-09-2010 11:58 PM

Bills are the only things that worry me but I get by

Lol. Think my bf is a bit tight too actually!! I keep hinting to him I would like a mental detector for Christmas

I am not that tight.. but like.. if I go out.. sometimes I can't be bothered to pay for alcohol.. not just because of the price.. because usually I would prefer just a lemonade.....

With my friends and bf I am fine with money!! I always have enough if they say if I want to go anywhere!! Not one of those who say "I don't have any money" lol. I don't scrape by.. until "pay day" comes. I already have a bit of money saved up!!

With family though.. I can see why my family (my mum, dad, 2 sisters) say I am tight.. but because they are more high maintenance than me.

Does not matter if you are tight.. I don't care if I am or not.. but I never sponge off anyone.. so it shouldn't matter?

Would you say your more family driven?

Like if you had a baby to look after, would you take that higher paying job that you hate?

See my gf doesnt do that she doesnt want anything, i just get bored and decide to buy things for her, recetly ann summers and la senza like me aha.

Im tight with my parents because too an extent i do sponge off them a bit not a lot, but i dont pay rent and that so i feel grateful that they are in a position to let me do that though, as they would rather i save the money for getting a house..

I still go out places to, always spend money on that, i just never go over the top lol. Other than like i said big things i really want.
Gotta get my gf that bracelet soon so.. that wil be like 300 pound.

I quite like being tight because i have money lol. And money does make me happy to an extent.

I don't pay board at home either because.. my mum and dad paid money towards my sisters going to university. I never went to university so they are giving me money in a different way so that they treat us all the same! lol. Letting me off not to pay board and putting money towards a car.. whenever that will happen! lol

Oh.. I don't really ask for anything. To be honest... when my bf goes to rally's and stuff.. and if I can't go with him because I am working or whatever.. he sometimes brings me a nice present back! He got me some buddhist beads. lol. Thoughtful things! Things I am interested in :) Rather than irrelevant tack... <<< Lol I am sounding ungrateful there.. but I rather have nothing!! than things clogging up my bedroom! I am a bit of a minimalist.

This is why I would like a metal detector for Christmas.. I would like to take up this new hobby! If the metal detector is too expensive I would pay towards it. lol I just think it would be something nice to wait until Christmas for...... mmmmmmm.

At my old age I've only just realised that wisdom - if I could only turn back the clock
