tell me if im being harsh or not? but.

my 9 month old niece pissed me off today as she none stopped cried and kept kicking me and scratching my laptop, and everytime i told her no she started crying like a spoilt brat.

do you think im being harsh or is my 9 month old niece a spoilt brat?

Smithy 06-10-2010 05:12 PM

harsh, she's 9 months, she's not to know any better

Jack_ 06-10-2010 05:13 PM

Well what did you actually do to her that could mean you were 'harsh' on her?

Iceman 06-10-2010 05:13 PM

she's 9 months old, its a toy to her, she doesnt know how to differentiate from right and wrong.

MTVN 06-10-2010 05:14 PM

If she's nine months old then I doubt she realises that she shouldn't have been doing that.

Although I'm not surprised you got pissed off, I'm pretty terrible at looking after kids because I find them so annoying :p

InOne 06-10-2010 05:17 PM

Kickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk the baby

Don't kick the baby

You're being harsh Jedward, she is not old enough to know any different, perhaps you should move your laptop where she can't get it or put it away a while and play with her,I'm sure you would both like that, then go on your laptop when she has gone home.I have learnt that you can never do things you want to in peace with babies around and they are inquisative at that age.bless her, lol.

I would never say you were harsh jedward, you know that I am sure.
I am using kazannes post because in it are the solutions to your worries when you have your Niece.its all brilliant advice from her.

Looking after Children is never an easy thing to do and its often more awkward when their parents are there too. I have older Brothers, all much older than me,when I was playing a board game or something like a playstation,One of my Sis in laws used to come with my Nieces and Nephews and insist I let them play too.
I was 10 to 13 at the time, they were between 1 and 3,obviously they couldnt understand any games and especially with the board games ,you'd make a move then they pick up the pieces and toddle off.

I had to bite my tongue loads, my friends wouldn't come round if my Sis in law was coming. but you learn and look back and smile at it all now.

Its all part of learning and you have likely learned a lot today as to what to do when relatives and Children visit. Good luck, you couldn't be harsh if you tried though I don't think anyway.

Take the baby and throw it in the kitchen cupboard.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 06-10-2010 09:14 PM

If she wants to play with the laptop and you dont want her to, either entertain her, by playing with her or find her something to entertain herself with, a childrens toy that she likes.

Alternatively wait till her hand is on the keyboard then close the laptop hard and fast.

LOL!

And well, none tbh, she cant obvs go on it but its just a 'really cool-looking toy' to her.

Your not being harsh, by just saying no to her/him. you can't let them have everything they want, no matter how young they are.

Beastie 06-10-2010 10:58 PM

Expect her to have killed someone by the age of 4.

Put any baby next to a bright, colourful laptop screen and theyre gonna wanna touch it. The sensible thing is to not have the baby within reach of it in the first place.

I hope you and Jeddy are not planning on having babies together!
