Question for any drivers ...

Driver A is driving down a narrow road and notices someone (driver B) coming the opposite way on the wrong side of the road but there is an obstruction being a long like of parked cars. Now one has to give way but being on the right side of the road and almost clear of the obstruction, driver A could reverse back about 1 car length and let them go even though they have right of way, or driver A could chuck common sense out of the window and stick to the highway code like the bible and sit like a fucktard and wait for Driver B to reverse back about 8 car lengths to let the Driver A go and then attempt to have an argument with driver B at the other end. In the end, driver A opts to wait for driver B to reverse back a fair bit and then attempts to argue when the 2 cars cross paths. Who is in the right?

I hate people like that, the same when you're pulling onto a road with loads of time and the car on the road you're puling onto speeds up just to flash their lights at you

I was driver B btw (if you didn't guess) and to make matters worse there was another car behind me who had to go back also. And when driving past she stopped and called me a tw*t and a tosser and started citing the highway code, didn't half give it her back though, dirty little scruff in her crappy rustbucket excuse for a Vauxhall Tigra. Actually fuming over it. Had zero luck on the roads in the past few weeks

Yeah, you'd be right on that one Tom. It'd take her less time to reverse and then drive fastly down the road than it would for you to reverse a fair while and then her driving slowly after you. Common sense fail.

I say driver A as I like his car better

It's just having no courtesy at all really, a bit of common sense in these situations wouldn't go astray!

Driver B is completely in the wrong for being on the wrong side of the road. If there had been an accident and you explained it to the police in the same way you explained it here driver B would be responsible.

Last year I had my wing mirror taken off doing more or less the same thing. I was the one who had to pay for both my own and the other drivers mirror as it was me who had straddled the white line. The fact that he was tear arsing down counted for nothing. Its the law.

yes I know technically speaking you're right but there is always going to be times when you have to be on the other side of the road to avoid some obstruction and it is, like I said before, just common sense/a bit of courtesy for the driver coming the opposite way to leave you through if you're alot farther along then they are.

Granted but I wasn't thnking about that when I had to fork out 80 quid for his wing mirror.

The guy drove a Merc. I knew it was gonna be pricey but damn. I only drive a Ford Focus and mine was still 30 quid. Never again. I slow right down wait till a good gap comes and then straddle the white line. Once bitten twice shy.

Ouch! well atleast it was only the mirror I suppose, my car has the indicators in the mirrors so I'm completely paranoid about something like that happening, I'd say they could be pricey

There are some d***heads on the road who quote the highway code to excuse their stupidity- common sennse and courtesey is all it takes - Sometimes I wish I could drive a tank then car A would become car __

Are you actually being serious? and the police have more common sense than that too. Quick picture below showing the basic premise of the situation, driver A being yellow and B being red, are you seriously suggesting the red one should have to reverse all the way back? If that was the case we'd be there all day. Common sense needs to prevail sometimes and if you would happily reverse back then you're a bit of an idiot

The road in question is barely wide enough for 2 cars as it is let alone when theres a row of parked cars too

IMO drivers like that should be taken off the road for being complete ******ing tools.

Livia 13-10-2010 02:02 PM

If driver A and driver B had collided, driver B's insurance would have had to cough up.

What the ****** are you calling me an idiot for? Did you not read ALL my posts where I say the same thing happened to me and I was the one who the police blamed? I tell you what, if you think you're so in the right next time it happens you go ahead and stand your ground and see who the police blame. Then maybe you can call the police man an idiot and see what happens next.

I said you'd be an idiot if you'd reverse in that situation to give way when its much easier and convenient for both drivers for the other one to irrespective of the highway code. As I said earlier common sense has to prevail too

And if he didnt reverse - he has right of way and is not on the wrong side of the road - and you collided YOU would be in the wrong 100%. What bit dont you understand?
