Russell Grant wants Chantelle to wait

Star-Crossed Lovers

8 Mar 2006

“BEING a man, I could see from the body language he was attracted to her.” The words of Alan Houghton, speaking to the Mirror about the moment he saw his daughter Chantelle with Preston.
The lion's mane
Alan, a single cabbie who divorced Chantelle’s mum Vivian when his daughter was 15, has only met Preston once, but he finds it easy to empathise with the Ordinary Boys singer.

“It must have been very difficult for him in the house having feelings for Chantelle but knowing his girlfriend was watching,” says Alan.

Ah, yes, poor Camille Aznar, the woman who has taken over from poor Della Bovey - the woman Grant Bovey left for the anally cleansing charms of Anthea Turner - as the nation’s leading spurned lover.

Of course, this role may yet be taken by Chantelle herself. Given Preston’s track record, it is entirely understandable for Chantelle to want to know what lies in store. And who better to consult in matters of the heart than single and never-knowingly-dated gazer to the stars Russell Grant?

Grant has looked at Chantelle and Preston’s stars, and he has seen all. “I am afraid that if they rush into anything it will turn their dream into a nightmare,” says he.

Chantelle: Living The Nightmare could give the Celebrity Big Brother winner a sequel to her current outing fronting TV’s Chantelle: Living The Dream. But we only want good things for her, and we banish such dark thoughts.

We just pray she listens to Grant. As he says, Chantelle is a “typical Leo”. She is “very loving, adoring, big hearted and warm”.

The problem is Preston. Grant is “very worried about Capricorn Preston because he can be moody”.

“Sure, get engaged and flash a ring,” says Grant. “But don’t marry until you have both got what you want to achieve out of your system.”

So here’s to Chantelle and Preston achieving the dream that is the fifteen-page wedding spread in a leading showbiz magazine. And living happy ever after in glossy colour...
