Simon Sending Home His Own Act. [2005]

LOL Look how basic X Factor was 5 years ago it was like so failish and they had none of these massive lights, dramatic music, sexy outfits, big openings even the 'IT'S THE VOICE OVA GUY' wasn't there either.

It's so different to how it was years back.

But yes anyway, I remember watching The Conway Sisters last performance it was 2005, and I was at my dad's girlfriends house.

We had gotten a chippy and I remember about to eat my chip when suddenly my brother busted my dad's girlfriend's nose open and everyone was like UMG so they ran out and I sat down and had myself some chips and watched their exit.

BUT, what I don't remember is this...

Apperantly Simon SIMON, Yes SIMON actually sent these girls home and HE was their mentor!!

Why on earth did he do this?

What was their reaction?

What was his reaction?

I bet it was such a big deal, come on people who remember it tell me.
I wish there was a video.

Im sure it was a group of black girls and it was like the first elimination

Miss Ivy Balls 12-10-2010 10:16 PM

Your brother sounds lovely.

ILoveTRW 12-10-2010 10:16 PM

First elimination like ever?

That probably explains it then, if he did it now there'd be headlines on the newspapers and that like:

'FANS FURY AS SIMON SENDS HOME HIS OWN ACT' -The Sun

'SIMON SENDS HOME HIS OWN ACT BELLIE AMIE BUT HAS A ROMP AT THE HOTEL WITH THEM LATER' -Daily Star

'BELLIE AMIE STILL OUT THERE? SIMON SENDS GIRLS TO A SEX DEN UNDER THE STAGE' -Daily Star

That was the Addictiv Ladies. They went in the first week. The Conway Sisters went about halfway through I think due to their own mentor.

Can you remember like what their faces were like?

I could just imagine them, expecting him to save them and he sends them home and their like :shocked:

Oh this is interesting. (Taken from wikipedia)

In week 5 of The X Factor knockout stages, The Conways found themselves in the bottom-two sing-off for the first time, facing the judges' expulsion vote together with crowd favourite Maria Lawson. Lawson was voted off on the casting vote of Louis Walsh, prompting booing from the studio audience and fellow judge Sharon Osbourne to claim that "he voted with his passport" (referring to the fact that both Walsh and the Conway Sisters are Irish). The decision provoked controversy in the UK media, especially when it was revealed that Walsh had known the Conways personally prior to the competition.

Joelle. 12-10-2010 10:25 PM

And more.

They were eliminated in week 7, their third consecutive week in the bottom two, after Cowell voted against them – the first and so far only time that an X Factor judge had voted off their own act despite not needing to as they only had one act in the bottom two. Upon their dismissal from the competition, the group claimed that Louis Walsh had been their true mentor.

what an awful show it was back then!

If that aired today it would get laughed off screen

and final 6 yet half of those acts belonged to Sharon. And people say she was terrible ;)

I do miss Kate though

If they were the final 6 on the show today, it would be a complete laughing stock. The standard has just gone up so much since then.

Tom4784 12-10-2010 10:57 PM

Everyone hated them & Louis that series for sending Maria Lawson home and there was a lot of drama about it being a fix as Louis knew them before the competition began. Simon was doing damage control really.

I think people get jaded when looking back at series 2. Until series 5 a lot of people thought it was the best series but remove Shayne, Brenda and Maria from the equation and none of them would make it past bootcamp now

I just watched the end of that clip, lol @ Sharon throughout the voting off. Thats why I miss her, she was so unpredictable. I really hope Simon puts her on BGT

MTVN 12-10-2010 11:02 PM

Yeah, I made a thread on this the other day, he just did it to stop all he furor that was developing after Louis saved them.

Say what you want about the standard, and the music, lights, presentation etc. but I much preferred the X Factor back then

Patrick 12-10-2010 11:03 PM

Just watched that video, Jesus ITV was so different too.

I love how it popped up 'Next: I'm A Celebrity...' :joker:

Ben Sheppeard on the Xtra Factor

Although this video got me thinking, Kate actually is far too good for Loose Women :joker:

That girl owned Simon 'Louis was our real mentor' and everyone was like 'OOOOOOO'

Oh yes so do I, I just said on Facebook that X Factor 2005 was my second favourite series, with X Factor 2008 being first but yeah the contestants were better.

LOL I remember when Sharron and Steve had a row on Live TV one time, or when he won I think and she made it clear she was no amused. :joker:

Jack_ 12-10-2010 11:10 PM

The presentation of the show was absolutely awful back then. The old voiceover is lame, the set was tacky and disgusting, Kate was awful, etc.

This was the first ever episode of the X Factor [it buffers all the time though]: http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/2-db6ujKrag/

It has changed so much...

By the way if anyone wants a link to the place where I'm getting all of these links from you can have it tomorrow, just PM me now and I'll give it to you tomorrow. I don't want to post it on the forum incase like Big Brother the links start being removed. It has every series [although some videos don't work etc].
