What Music Inspires You When Writing?

This is mainly for any fellow writers/poets but anyone can respond. I just wanted to know if anyone has music that inspires them when writing?

I myself have a playlist that I put on while writing.

Here is just one of the tracks from it:

I used to find I'd work better doing college work having something with a long guitar solo in the middle.....(l Kravitz style)

I prefer to write in silence as its more of what I see than what I hear that inspires me but if I've got a block I'll choose one of my playlists that best apply to the kind of song I'm trying to write but variety is also important. Clair de Lune is probably my favourite :)

Clair de Lune is amazing.

I don't really listen to music when I'm doing work. But to add to ukturtle's post, Philip Glass is rather brilliant.

Sometimes in the past a piece of music suggests itself and then it gets used somewhere

It did that with my stories as follows

Mystical Realms Sagas Season 4 - There were two Christmas carols

and

And they got incorporated into the story at the beginning and the end

Season six had How to Save a Life

Tales from and around the Mystical Realms volume one had this hymn used

and for Tales volume two I used three country and western hits

Mystical Realms Saga Seven, I had, not just music as a backdrop, but the sound of the 1960's space race inspiring me, along with D-Reams It's the end of the world as we know it. In this story line I had it ending on a down beat note sort of with Kelly Clarkson's Because of you going through my head, because of one line, which I reference in the story, before the shock end of season cliff hanger.

Season eight had no music that I can recall

And then came Mystical Realms Saga Season Nine, Tales Volume three and Saga Season Ten. All three stories were part of one large story arc that took a year to write, and the music background for that came from Jeff Waynes's War of the Worlds, although I only referenced the music in the trailers.

In the current story I am working on, Dido's Hunter suggested itself as if there was theme music.

However, as with others, sometimes I have to switch things off in order to concentrate on the script, which I do in Word, and then upload once it is ready.

I like silence when I'm writing. I don't find it helpful to have other people's creativity crashing against mine.

Enigma-esque music.
