Preston, the second Celebrity Big Brother 2006 graduate to host a UK-wide radio show (George Galloway has a weekend phone-in on talkSPORT), presented his first programme for Virgin Radio on Sunday.
Nerves scuppered things at first. Preston said little more than "Hello. You all right? This is Preston from the Ordinary Boys" between tracks, and his first link was woeful. "You're still listening to Preston" he said, making it sound like an endurance test. His chat was wooden and peculiar in tone. "I knew them before they were famous, get over it," he said of Franz Ferdinand, sounding horrendously uncool and supercilious.

He did relax later on, but he needs to realise that good radio oozes with personality and is much harder work than chatting down the pub, which is what this sounds like ("Weren't that good, eh?"). The music's fine, though, and there were some smirksome choices, given his tangled post-CBB love-life. The show included My Girl ("my girl's mad at me") and then, the ordinary boy famous for having two, ended proceedings with One Love.
