is this the start of the fightback ?

is this the start of the fightback ?

i would like to thank all involved,
because this protest was about the UK, nothing else involved.
praise the lord, the UK found back bone,
i hope this is the start of the fight back zone.
yes the government were wrong to raise tuition,
are you pulling my Clegg, one useless edition.
but out the way is the first battle,
and i hope the coalition can not direct the UK cattle.
for way to long our op-ion has not mattered,
that's why i want strikes and protests to leave the government battered.
make a stand, they are only there to serve,
and after them helping there selves, this message we must preserve.
change is needed, from spending, health, education, we are in a rut,
but one thing for sure, the UK should not allow one single cut.

(the joe is just hopeing that tibb message board users dont go on strike against my poems lol morning everyone < love to hear your views if you think this protest was justified ?)

No it is Not

Livia 11-11-2010 01:03 PM

Whether they had a valid point or not doesn't matter anymore. They lost all credibility when the first rock was thrown, when the first mask was put on.

I hope every single one of them is prosecuted.

Till 19 years of age your tuition fees are free,
so if it's your own choice to go to university,
why should you expect someone else to pay for you,
get a job you lazy sods like the rest of us have to.

Rioting and looting does little to impress,
Such a violent pointless protest has left us in a mess,
so is this now the future of our green and pleasant land?
a bunch of hooligans taking the law into their hands.

I hope the thugs are found and they all go to jail,
a criminal conviction now might make them see they fail,
why should we pay to keep them in further education,
when most of them will never contribute to the nation.

So the OP, TiBB's resident poet rebel without a clue, believes in anarchy, the rule of the mob?

Op-ion, I presume you mean opinion? Wasn't the opinion of the voting public taken a few short months ago that led to the current government or has your memory of that faded?

So glad you understand the reason for these and other future cuts. To reduce the economic deficit created by your heroes in the last government.

Instead of cuts what do you propose should replace them? Massive tax hikes for everyone?

Or do you just want the country to borrow more and more money to fund your easy lifestyle and then go Bankrupt?

BB_Eye 11-11-2010 02:05 PM

At least they still have their dignity.

You always seem to start a new thread about topics that we are already discussing, "London Student Protest" - go post your opinion there.

Mystic Mock 11-11-2010 09:27 PM

no i dont believe in the protest even if they had a point,if it was football fans that acted like this then they would be classed as common as muck *****s.

It was a world wide recession started off by the yanks, it's effects were increased in the UK by the Labour Government. They oversaw the way the banks were being run. They were also responsible for running the UK economy into the ground by thier borrow and spend policies.

The average person also lives/relies on credit to some extent. This in turn contributed to the recession.

And getting millions of students into mortgage-sized debts is going to correct that?

A slight over exagerration there dont you think?

It is one of a number of measures to reduce the size of public sector spending. I dont know if you have noticed but other areas of the public sector have to make cuts too.

What is so wrong with paying for extended education? Bearing in mind if they dont earn over a set amount they dont repay. Would you prefer everyone to get a tax hike so that students get a university education for free?

I don't think so. £9000 per year for tuition fees is £27000, factor in the maintenence loans, an additional £11,000. Then you have the interest charges which could run on for decades depending on the sort of work you get. Students are looking at having debts of around £40,000 hanging over their heads. God help you if you hope to fund a PhD or other graduate qualification. Okay, we're not exactly talking a house ideal for middle class family of four, but there are council houses you can buy for that sort of money.

Universities can't be immune to cuts at this time. I am not saying they ought to be or that they are more important than social services (who are about to suffer utterly crippling cuts), welfare or transport. I just resent higher education being privatised which is what this essentially is, lets not mince words.

I believe this is a deliberate effort on the part of the Conservative party to dismantle universities and transform higher education into a purely utilitarian, philistine pursuit reserved mainly for aspiring management consultants, lawyers and accountants. It is absolutely the worst thing they could have done in a time when not even a lack of elementary numeracy or literacy is necessarily a barrier to a cushy admin job or even completing a degree.

Even if this system weren't so potentially damaging. How do universities hope to regularly secure the revenue they need when they are relying not on applicants, but graduates (and not until they are earning a certain amount either) to subsidise them?

dirtyvileHARRYuk 12-11-2010 07:22 PM

the joe is thinking < all those that got us in this mess should be repaying it back and not getting there payrises as they have already started to do - as for the politicians yes they should pay back as well as not only are they all corupt and allowed this to happen they dont live in the real world, so if they were to drop down to a normal salray and let all the rest go to paying off the debt i am sure it wont be long. then again they will propbably quit if they have to do that as the only reason why they got in there jobs was to abuse there position of power and live not like the rest of us <

the joe feels better now i have had my rant lol

Students are hard to please, I know that. but the real anger from us is against the Lib Dems, we believe students in the election campaign were decieved by the Lib Dems, had they stuck to their promise and signed pledges given in the election to get the Student votes then this problem would not have arised.

However once demonstration turns into aggravation and any violence then the whole argument is near lost. As Livia said, all who got violent should be prosecuted.

Labour's hypocrisy on this is unbelievable, although they would not have increased the fees, they did bring them in in the first place but the student anger is at the Lib Dems, who made a promise to them to get votes, then betrayed that promise after getting the votes and then added insult to injury in abusing the power of the seats given to them to do so too.

I am not political but I will never likely trust or believe a word from the Lib Dems again.

Their party is all but dead now too. Their supporters have abandoned them and their numbers (in MP's) will be miniscule in the next parliament.

No grassroots support and being forced to play spin doctor for Cameron and Osborne. I hope it was worth it. I'm just relieved Clegg was never made Prime Minister. Imagine how much of a weak leader he would have been.

Then why didnt they attack the Lib Dems offices as opposed to the conservative offices?

It was after all the Lib Dems who made the promise to students knowing they wouldnt keep it.

Nick Clegg is facing fresh pressure over university tuition fees after it emerged the Liberal Democrats drew up plans two months before the general election to abandon a pledge to scrap them as part of any coalition deal. Skip related content

Well.I think its clear the real government is Conservative one, I think you will find before this march, Students had been getting at Nick Clegg in particular for weeks beforehand, but really the main part of this coalition is the Conservative party.

With little luck in altering the now new thinking and policy of the Lib Dems this demonstration was moved to the higher level and taken to the Conservatives. The Lib Dems are in reality only part of this coalition becasue they couldn't afford to fight another general election yet, they need to keep in in power until they get more finance in.

This demonstration, realising the Lib Dems are now a near lost cause to Students and their words and promises meaningless, was taken to the real Govt party, the organ grinders rather than the monkeys.
