Does anyone else often find that the backing track drowns out the voices?

I mentioned before that it often seems like the backing track is so overpowering you can't hear a word certain acts are saying. Not with everyone, it'll just be a couple acts each week.

For example, Aiden this week, watching it on tv his voice was completely drowned out. But then I just watched it on youtube and I could hear him perfectly. So now I'm just confused. Has anyone else had this problem or do I just have a really dodgy tv?

I can't really come up with any other explanation :|

Yes, on the night, but when I play it back from recording it and even watching it again in the morning, it doesn't sound like they are drowned out.

Well his voice is too weak to sing alone, even when he ends a song with no backing you can hardly hear him, he is the weak link of that group unfortunately. His voice has no strength to it whatsoever.

I agree and have been saying it the same thing for ages. It's a great way of allowing crap acts (Katie, Cher etc) to get as 'far' as they have. Big, noisy productions that drown out the worst contestants.

Yeah but I find they often drown out people with weaker voices who actually sound better without the backing track, because they don't have the voice to shout over it.

Katie's voice sounds awful when she's trying to get over the backing track, but she actually sounds a lot better without it. And they've done it with Aiden a couple times now, and as much as I love his voice, it's not very strong, so it just doesn't sound good with such an overpowering backing track. It's people like him that sound best just singing on their own I think. This is why we need acoustic week!

Happened with Katie last night. Was awful

ElProximo 14-11-2010 09:47 AM

Yes!
Strongly agree. There are times it is so loud and overwhelming I am straining to try and hear the actual singer through it all.

It is really way way too loud.

Katie is awful most weeks. If anything, when she comes on, I'm grateful for the backing tracks being so loud they drown her out.
