Always feeling hungry

I was just wondering whether there is a condition that makes you always feel hungry? I can eat and eat and eat, but never feel completely full. Weight has always been a problem for me and I was quite big when I was younger. Since I've started working last September, I've lost an awful lot of weight; having to walk a mile to work, from school, every day, and now I feel satisfied and confident with my weight and how I look. I'm just worried that I'm going to put all of the weight that I have lost, back on. I drink lots of water so it isn't thirst (I know that it often gets confused with hunger), but I just constantly feel the need to eat, and when I do, I never feel completely full. It's quite scary to be honest, I can eat a roast with the family, and afterwards I'm still feeling hungry. I don't know whether anyone else has the problem or whether it is just me. A part of me thinks it is probably boredom, as when it's a busy day at work and I'm running around all over the place, I don't feel hungry, but I'm worried about the fact that I still feel hungry after I've eaten a meal and I'm sure that shouldn't happen. Is this a known problem or not?

I saw a program once about a condition where you never feel full no matter how much you eat, I think it's really rare though

Stacey. 14-11-2010 12:00 PM

Maybe you have worms?

Really! I'll have to have a look online. I don't want to go to the doctors or anything, to find out that it is just a general problem that almost everyone has from time to time. It's been effecting me since I can remember, so I don't think it is a temporary thing either. Perhaps it is just because I'm growing up? I know that they say teenagers are always hungry because they're growing.

Josy 14-11-2010 12:05 PM

Yeah humans can get worms.

Had a look online and it says that it is possible, and common, but the symptoms are not increased hunger, it's actually an itchy bum. I'm happy to say that I don't have that problem

I think theres a few different types, and some of them do have increased hunger as symptoms, but you should go to your doctor and get checked out.

It could just be your diet or something like that, or it could just be that your getting older. I'd be surprised if you actually do have that condition although it's possible I suppose.

I'd be surprised too... As Josy said, I should check it out with my doctor. Probably the best option.

Hyperthyroidism - an overactive thyroid. Your thyroid releases to much thyroxin into the body so everything speeds up... your heart, your metabolism, you feel really hungry all the time but don't seem to put on weight. It's really not that uncommon but it's often missed. A simple blood test will tell you whether your thyroid is overactive... it could be the answer.

Do you eat quickly? as if you do,the brain does not register that you are full
you need to chew food until it is almost liquid and take lots of time.

Miss Ivy Balls 14-11-2010 02:06 PM

Tell me about it.

Perhaps. I don't tend to think about really. It helps a lot when I chew gum, perhaps it is the need for taste?

D: It's just like vile to see fat people walking up the highstreet or wherever. And half of them complain about being fat, yet they do nothing about it.

Stacey laughing at someone having weight problems is also "****ing pathetic" - and it was only a 1 point infraction; it's her own fault for having so many other infraction points. Think before you post.

He's asking what her problem is with fat people; he's not making fun of her.

So getting 'molested by a fat uncle' doesn't even come into it?

IMO that is more offensive then someone putting a joker smilie at someones weight.

How do you know he hasn't been infracted?
