Westlife single flops

I think No8 counts as a flop considering its a new single from a new album. And Joe was considered a flop when he entered at No6. Plus they also had the XF appearance to aid them along with numerous other TV appearances.

I think its an awful overblown ballad and the video is so laughably OTT.

Congrats to JLS on another No1(maybe) and to Ellie for rocketing up 35 places!

midweek chart(it may well change a bit by sunday but not much)

When your a boyband thats been around that long, singles don't really matter, it's about Album sales

Locke. 17-11-2010 09:12 PM

The album will still go platinum and the single will stick around in the top 40 for longer than 3 weeks, which is how long Joe's lasted.

of course they do. Theyre an indicator of popularity.

Singles dont matter financially but they are advertising tools for albums. I dont think this first single is gonna do sales of their album any big favours.

Good to see Ellie up there. :D

No they don't not really, top 10 isn't too bad, they have a stable fanbase so their album will do fine regardless

Alistair Griffin from Fame Academy is #29

Whoever bought that shocking Black Eyed Peas song needs to go and see someone about their hearing (well the bit that isn't murdering a song thats impossible to murder is quite good)

yes they do. Theyre soon quick to go on about all their (forgettable) No1s so they should acknowledge their flops too!

And their fanbase is clearly on the demise.

Its called good taste. JLS actually have personality and move around on stage. Theyre proper performers who mix it up.

How anybody could possibly get excited about 4 dull guys who just stand there singing the same old overblown ballads and cover versions has always baffled me.

Theyve contributed nothing whatsoever to music.

But JLS have? :joker:

I'm not even a westlife fan. but westlife >>> JLS

And the JLS single is the children in need single, that's pretty much a guaranteed #1

Benjamin 17-11-2010 09:55 PM

Urgh, who the hell is buying that G6 song? It's awful (nearly as bad as the Black Eyed Peas new track). :bored:

at least westlife make good ballads.

Princess 17-11-2010 09:58 PM

I would slag Westlife off but TT didn't get a number one either and they've just sold 1.34 million tour tickets and 305k albums so yeah whatever.

well theyre 10 times more entertaining to watch unless youre a bored middle aged housewife who just loves her MOR ballads and static performers.

And JLS have only been around for 1-2 years compared to 12 years of Westlife. Do they ever get any credit for their music and contribution to music? No. Because nobody even takes them seriously as a musical force. Theyve never had any musical ambition and are just like Boybots put together purely to make money by appealing to gullible girls and soppy females generally. A cold cynical business force.

At least JLS have a more mixed aged fanbase of boys and girls. They mix up the tempo and actually have a contemporary, relevent sound.

stupid irrelevent point considering nobody has said she is. Or are you imagining things again? Poor dear.

Your point?

every artist misses the top 90 in some countries so your point is silly and irrelevent. The US charts is full of US acts who cant get hits outside of America. Do you think they give a sh!t? No. Because ultimately acts want to do well in their own country. Thats where they concentrate their energy.

Unless you seriously think that Cheryl wakes up in the middle of the night sweating and panicking that she's not top 10 in Belgium?
