McFly McFlops

well this is one Im sorry about because I really like their new stuff...especially Shine a light. Unlike Pondlife theyre actually fun, lively and ambitious. And young.

Not sure it was wise to release the album up against Take that though. And many other new albums(all new top 5 this week).

No16 midweek so not too great. Is this the beginning of the end for McFly?

He's a devoted Cheryl stan :bored: he's taking any opportunity to take a swipe at artists who have released material in the past couple of weeks, that aren't doing as well as her.

Fair enough. In answer to the question - nah, doubt they're finished. They have a very strong fanbase.

InOne 17-11-2010 11:04 PM

I think it's just Nicky on this forum that keeps them going, tbh

Actually Ive never bought a Cheryl record in my life or followed her music or whatever to any great degree. I defend her here a lot because she gets attacked non stop in the most banal idiotic way.

And try reading the OP; I clearly say I like them so its not gloating at all. Im actually disappointed for them. As far as boybands go they are great and way above the normal standards. A real band who love music.

Its only pointless if McFly are of no interest. Just like every other music thread could be deemed pointless.

And considering half your post count is Gaga spam I dont think youre in any position to talk about pointless postings.

Kisses.

Hmmm........................ I think you'll find all their real fans got their album on November 1st, for free.

Every member of their website got it on November 1st as a download, and could buy the physical copy if they wished this week! They know it won't chart high, but they felt giving the album away exclusively on McFly.com to real fans before the general public was more important than a chart position.

Just yanno, an FYI.

Ah, YES! That's right, 1 fan keeps the wholeeee band going? Welllll believeable.

Shine a Light was one of their highest selling singles! So obviously they do have alot of fans :|

Iceman 19-11-2010 04:02 PM

No offence to Nicky but they were never going to be around forever, they were part of the heavily hyped popbands that are irrelavant now.

You have to admit though that their day is over. They were never going to be around forever, no matter how good they were at their thing. That 'thing' [namely light hearted, baby faced, dopey pop rock] is not built to last purely down to the fact that most of the initial audience they attracted will grow out of it.

well thats not very clever.

Truth is, low chart positions could mark the end of their record deal. And the end of them as a band.

To be fair it can be done good with ... you know, proper bands. Nine Inch Nails done it. And Radiohead sort of done it.

Both were very well received.

Ya, that wasn't a geniuos idea, seeing as it leaked straight after :joker:

Locke. 19-11-2010 11:04 PM

They're on Children in Need now... ****e live. Shine a Light is a good song though.

Nicky. 20-11-2010 12:29 AM

Considering they have their own record label..... it's kinda impossible to be dropped.

anddddd not very clever? Their fans are more important to them than chart positions! Shine a Light reached #4 without much promo... so tbh, I think they did very well! Also, that's the point, they're leaking it themselves; saves others leaking it. Simple.

and they're amazing live. If you're not there, you don't know. I've seen them 12 times, they're fantastic.
