Royle Family Christmas special Confirmed

The BBC has revealed details of this year's Royle Family Christmas special.

Following on from the ratings success of last year's Christmas Day 'Golden Egg Cup' episode, writers Caroline Aherne and Craig Crash have penned 'Joe's Crackers'.

The one-off will feature the regular cast of Aherne, Cash, Ricky Tomlinson, Sue Johnston, Ralf Little, Peter Martin and Jessica Hynes.

'Joe's Crackers' will be based in the Royle house on December 25, with Barbara Royle (Johnston) struggling because her husband Jim (Tomlinson) has had "unfortunate incident in the precinct".

Meanwhile, Dave (Cash) and Denise (Aherne) are fretting because they are struggling financially and are worried that their fridge magnet won't live up to the rest of the family's presents.

Quality. Nothing like getting drunk enough to want to crack one off to Caroline Ahern on Christmas day.

hasn't been any good since The Queen of Sheba (the special where Nana died) but still a whole lot better than the other XMAS SPESHALS you get.

The one where they went to Dave & Denise's for xmas was too slapstick and ruined the magic because it wasn't realistic anymore. The Golden Eggcup was really good though

I miss nana too :( Liz Smith probably hasn't got long left either..

Well it's either than mind meltingly stupid or just as worse ... he just hopped right in to post for the sake of it without making the slightest bit of effort to read anything in the thread which clearly makes it ...

... heck, it's not even spelt the same! Royal, Royle!

Planet Awesome. You can work on lowering lager prices and legalizing stuff, and me and Sharon Ni Bheolain will take over as head and sole members of the Repopulation Division.

Lockes post was so, so, so true! :joker:

I really like this, even if the recent episodes haven't been as good, they are still great in my view.

Scarlett. 05-12-2010 10:47 PM

Sounds like this one will just be taking place at the Royle's house

Beastie 05-12-2010 10:49 PM

Yes Can't wait! :)

Eventhough last year I thought they went on a bit about the "egg cup" or something. But anyway I still love it.
