Who would you say was the most famous person in the world??

Discuss.

Hitler

Obviously for the wrong reasons but surely he must be up there with the most talked about?

If not Elvis / Michael Jackson / Beatles

Stu 25-11-2010 10:01 PM

Probably the Jesus Christ figure, I would imagine. It's a silly question though. There is no ultimate answer.

In the last few hundred years Elvis and Michael Jackson.

MTVN 25-11-2010 10:02 PM

Alive now?

Dunno, maybe Nelson Mandela or possibly the Queen

ILoveTRW 25-11-2010 10:03 PM

Alive - The Queen
Dead - Diana

cub 25-11-2010 10:04 PM

Princess Diana, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Elvis.

Z 25-11-2010 10:05 PM

George W Bush maybe?

Legend killer 25-11-2010 10:05 PM

David Beckham - **** footballer but that guy is know everywhere

Stacey. 25-11-2010 10:06 PM

Wagner.

Obama is far, far more well known today than The Queen. Plenty of Americans have no idea who the Queen actually is. Plenty of countries actually ... believe it or not ... don't give a shit about the British monarchy.

Diana is riddiculous too. Sorry. Far, far more important to English people than other people. You need to factor in the sheer amount of inbred Americans who don't know who these people actually are and Eastern countries who have not been exposed to them that much.

Think globally. I would throw Mohammad and the Buddah in with Jesus too.

Mr XcX 25-11-2010 10:07 PM

I think Nelson Mandela is up there!

You'd be surprised how many people in America follow the monarchy, in fact i'd say they are more popular over there than they are here.

Like ILoveTRW said, they're really interested in the monarchy in America, William and Kate's engagement was big news over there, and across most of Europe. They're household names amongst most Western nations I'd say

I would agree to an extent. American tourists go crazy for that stuff.

But the equation is more than balanced out by thick Americans.

Plenty even know 'The Queen' almost as some pantomine figure, but don't know who she actually is.

Putting the current Royal Family amongst the most well known figures in global history is ludicrous.

Legend killer 25-11-2010 10:12 PM

Gandi???

Stu 25-11-2010 10:12 PM

Gandi is up there for sure. And Madonna doesn't hold a candle to Elvis or Jackson, really. That sounds unusual because she is undoubtedly a global icon but even at that she is a few flights down from Elvis and MJ.

Yeah, I'd agree with that, America does have a disporportionate number of idiots, the fact that Sarah Palin and her cronies are actually taken seriously is proof of that

Shaun 25-11-2010 10:13 PM

Mutya Buena.

I was just thinking about those alive today when I said the Queen though

Stu 25-11-2010 10:14 PM

Legend killer 25-11-2010 10:17 PM
