If you say 'That's gay' meaning 'Thats naff or stupid' you are saying gay = naff and stupid.
Sorry for the OT, but people - I don't care whether they're straight or gay -should be aware. It really annoys me and I will challenge it where I see it.

well maybe it means like the hyper manic silly sort of gays, or like even worse cliff richards type gay or george michael gay oh or michael barrymore type gay...theres lots of cool gays too like that rugby player or boy george. I just find it funny, especially when people say 'don't be gay' . people say it anyway, you can't control people. so what if you hear someone say to someone else 'errrr that looks gay' would you go and challenge them? loads of people that use that word are completely not homophobic, but some are, if you challenged them they might say something nasty to you , and then they will just think gays are even more stupid and have to have a gay parade over the smallest thing. i think the answer lies within you, if you hurt when you hear it maybe you have a low self esteem that may or might not be connected with your gayness but you might be hiding that by getting angry or something....like in the past gays have incorporated hurtful words into our own language isnt it, like with queer and **** and stuff and i think a load of gays are doing that with the new meaning of gay too. of course there are really bad people who are really nasty and hurtful and violent towards gays , it's horrible , certain types of black people are like that culturaly but you get it from all types of people and walks of life and people proper full on being murdered just for there sex taste. i really really hate those people i just want to smash them i hate them so much. and people kill themselves and everything over bullying, hate it.
anyway its interesting ... oh and you know how you say ' I will challenge it where I see it' that just sounds sooo lesbian whos done a assertiveness course in lewisham. wow i just realised you can use 'lesbian' in the same way. cool
