They should do more obscure songs next year
 
The winners single performers illustrated it perfectly. When they do songs that aren't well known, they aren't going to be compared to the original and so they'll get fans based on their merit- not on it being a karaoke competition. I think Matt & Rebecca did their respective songs really well on Sunday night and after looking the two songs up, they're still not a patch on the originals but people can still judge it a bit more objective. Plus it would be better than yet another rendition of Purple Rain

No I mean for the actual weekly live shows not the final, instead of doing something which has been done a million times before and that everyone knows, why not go for something less known where it won't get compared?
