Dancing on Ice 2011 line-up revealed

Quote:

The lineup for the new series of Dancing On Ice has been revealed.

Coronation Street star Steven Arnold, whose character Ashley Peacock was recently killed in the tram crash, will compete in this year's show, alongside Kerry Katona, Jeff Brazier and rapper Vanilla Ice.

Loose Women's Denise Welch will also take to the rink, as well as former newsreader Angela Rippon, ex-EastEnders star Sam Attwater and Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe.

Chloe Madeley, Neighbours star Craig McLachlan, cricketer Dominic Cork and David Vitty - Comedy Dave from Chris Moyles's Radio 1 show - will further star in the ITV skating show. Actress Nadia Sawalha, Nickelodeon presenter Laura Hamilton and Ellen Rives - Frank Lampard's ex-girlfriend - are also among the 16 contestants.

Soldier Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry, who won the Victoria Cross in 2005, completes the cast - marking the first time a competitor has come from outside the world of sport and entertainment.

However, in a new twist, only 12 skaters will make it through to the competition stage, meaning four celebrities will be voted off before they even get the chance to compete.

Emma Bunton, Jason Gardiner and Robin Cousins will return as judges, while Karen Barber will now act as head coach to the contestants. Nicky Slater was axed from the panel last month.

The new series of Dancing On Ice starts with two specials on January 9 and January 16 and two celebrities will be axed during each show.

DANCING On Ice star Kerry Katona is battling a rib injury and flu in a bid to endear *herself to the British public.

Reformed Kerry, 30, is counting on the ITV1 ratings winner to rebuild her career and rescue her from *money troubles.

She hopes that, as in 2004 when she won I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here, she will be loved by the public again.

Pals say she is terrified her drug-fuelled past, bankruptcy and claims about being a bad mother will see her booted off the show early.
Let's hope that viewers treat the fraudulent chav with the contempt that she deserves .....

I hope Vanilla Ice does well on this, also I would like to see Jeff Brazier do well too, I admire greatly his respectful, dignified silence as to Jade Goody and her sad end to life,he has sought to protect his Sons and done so in a very protective.loving and tender way without having them stifled.

He seems a really good person and for that reason I hope he does well. I know he would also love to land the Xtra Factor presenters post too so maybe this will be a good showcase for him in that quest.

Vanilla Ice will be great on it though, but please anyone to win except the awful Kerry Katona.

I can't wait to see Vanilla Ice on skates. Him performing with Jedward was bad enough :joker:

Yeah, I agree with both of those statements .....

Brazier, who I never used to like, has proved that it was Goody who brought him down to her level - since he parted from her, he has worked hard and kept his nose clean, while she "partied" on, selling every aspect of her appalling "life" and using her sons as photo fodder - after her death, his resumption of "normal" life for his sons has been admirable .....

he handled the whole Jade thing brilliantly. Plus I recently saw a BBC3 prog about him trying to help his handicapped brother. He is an amazing guy and far more deserving of TV success than most minor celebs we get lumbered with.

I saw that too Zippy, he is a really decent guy and I thought that documentary was a real inspiration.

He does as you say deserve more TV success, I hope this Dancing on Ice series will help raise his profile and bring that about.

Happy New Year to you Zippy, hope 2011 is really good for you.

I agree with your post for the most part. But it's a pretty poor line up this year. I do like watching dancing on ice though, so might tape it so I can fast forward through Kerry Katona's skating and voice.

Did you see the programme with Jeff and his brother? I think his brother suffers from Cerebal Palsy, Jeff loves his brother and handles his condition so well. He doesn't mollycoddle his brother he treats him lovingly but is hard when he feels he has to be. I think Jeff is basically a decent person :)

I agree with all you say, I loved the documentary with Jeff and his Brother, he does seem to get the right balance in his caring for him. I really hope he does well on Dancing on Ice, I also know he would love the presenting job on Xtra Factor so I hope he gets that too.

I personally am dreading Kerry Katona on Dancing on Ice though.
