Claudia Colby to become new Rovers landlady?
CorONATION Street bosses are lining up Rula Lenska to become the new landlady of the Rovers Return.
Show chiefs have loved her performances as mischievous hairdresser Claudia Colby and have signed Rula up for more appearances in 2011. She will be back on our screens on New Year’s Eve and Corrie sources say she will be hatching a plan in January to take charge at the Rovers when she learns that landlady Liz McDonald is packing it in. A Street insider said: “Running the pub would be a massive step but it’s one that has definitely been talked about. FEISTY “Claudia ticks all the boxes for a feisty, no-nonsense landlady of a certain age. She could certainly make a great Rovers boss to follow in Liz’s footsteps.” Advertisement - article continues below » Glamorous Claudia won a host of fans this year as she battled pal Audrey Roberts, played by Sue Nicholls, for the affections of Lewis Archer (Nigel Havers). Celebrity Big Brother star Rula, 63, is now mulling over a new deal with the ITV soap. Her agent, Paul Pearson, said: “They’re talking to us about extending her contract. “They really like the character of Claudia. And Rula loves the show and cast. There are some very nice storylines ahead.” Bev Callard, who plays man-eater Liz, is leaving the show after 21 years. She’s been sworn to secrecy about her departure but says it will be “massive”.
