Games with High Replay Value

Got the idea of this from the "Movies you can watch over and over" thread, what games do you consider to have the most replay value?

For me it's usually the games that offer the most choice throughout the story, or the ones that can offer different endings and different paths, so games like Knights of the Old Republic I & 2, Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins and to a lesser extent the Fable games

There's also games that I can play after completing but not really doing anything, Saints Row being the main one, I've played that for ages even after doing all the missions.

Definately RPG and sandbox games. Any GTA, Elder Scrolls, Saints Row 2, Dead Rising 1+2 [which were never even designed to be played just once], Final Fantasy that sort of thing.

The only games out of my collection that I continue to play regularly to this day are GTA IV, FIFA 11 (Or whatever the latest FIFA is at the time), Left 4 Dead 2 and more recently Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Yeah, I forgot about sport games. Before Pro Evo got sh*t I had played about 20 seasons on the games 4th version I think

mass effect 1+2 dead rising 1+2 star wars KOTOR 1+2

They say Red Dead Redemption has the best replay value of any game, I was going to say 'This Year' of course I mean last year, but I really don't get the appeal.

I love that game and the look of it but there isn't THAT much to do.

Grand Theft Auto has amazing replay value.
I find The Ballad Of Gay Tony is better to go back and play again rather than IV because of the fact there's more to do than in GTA IV.

When you complete IV there's ****** all to do apart from getting police chases which at some point get boring when there isn't enough weapons to throw at them [BoGT fixes this].

Plus in Ballad Of Gay Tony if you get bored you can go to the club and take a couple of shots, get hammered and it's always great to see what random place in Liberty City the bouncers leave you the morning after.

The OP is right, the games that can change direction throughout the games are brilliant and have alot of replay value.

This is why it's such a travesty Heavy Rain wasn't brought to the 360.
I hope more games in the future see the 'choice' style to them, I loved when GTA 4 did that and it was so new.

The sad thing was you only really made about 4 or 5 choices through out the game, where as it would of been better to have more that really affected the outcome of the game.

I hope for GTA 5 there's at least 5 different endings that we can choose from, that way we'd play the game at least 5 times to see the different endings, that is of course if some bastard doesn't post the endings on YouTube and spoil it.

Hitman is another game by the way with great replay value, Basically because there's different ways of killing the victims which is great.

With online gaming, I'd say a lot of fighting games have been given more replayability. I regurlarly play Super Street Fighter 4 every few weeks and it's the same with most fighting games. Online has really rejuvenated the genre.

I'd say Left 4 Dead is a great game for replayability, as is Mass Effect for all the choices. As for downloadable titles I'd say Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. It's incredibly addictive and it's loot based system will pretty much have you playing it over and over again.

Mass Effect 1 & 2 - best games ever

Tom4784 03-01-2011 03:17 PM

I should be getting Mass Effect 2 in the post tomorrow, I'm quite excited for it.

It's not as huge as Mass Effect was, but it's a lot more fun, I love seeing my actions in Mass Effect creeping up on me in Mass Effect 2

Apparently decisions in Mass Effect that werent followed up in Mass Effect 2 will carry on in Mass Effect 3...plus if you had two different romances in 1 & 2, Sheperd will feel the repercussions xD

From the Final Fantasy series

Final Fantasy 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and even 10x2. 12 and 13 i sometimes think about replaying them but then think about how disappointing they both were.

Shenmue, Grandia, Breath of fire, Mortal Combat deception, KH.

I get pretty bored of FIFA around november time.. after 4 or 5 seasons in career mode i just stop playing and then end up going back 3/4 Months later start a new season again and get bored again.

MeMyselfAndI 03-01-2011 04:33 PM

Heavy Rain, had it 8 days and done it twice LOL.

Patrick 03-01-2011 04:34 PM

Oh and The Bloody Sims of course!
How did I forget that.

I'm the opposite, I get bored of the first couple of seasons, I find it more interesting when the teams start changing about noticeably and different teams start emerging as the better ones.

I love that.
But how does it have good replay value? lol

There wasn't much to do in it apart from go to the fun fair place, which was pretty boring and then replay some of the classes. :(

I hope for Bully 2 they add alot more stuff to make it have better replay value.

30stone 03-01-2011 11:01 PM
