'20 bands you need to hear in 2011'

According to NME. I've included videos of their songs in the spoilers as loading up 20 at once would probably kill my computer.

The Vaccines
Spoiler:

I'm not a fan, I think they're a bit generic.

James Blake
Spoiler:

I quite like him, He'll be one I'll watch out for.

Jessie J
Spoiler:

I hated 'Do It Like A Dude' but I like this. I might have written her off too quickly.

Anna Calvi
Spoiler:

I love her, I've been following her for a few months now, I think she's one of the new acts I'm most looking forward to.

The Naked & The Famous
Spoiler:

I want to like them but I can't, I don't mind this song though.

Brother

I couldn't find any videos of them, serves them right for having such a generic name.

Niki & The Dove
Spoiler:

I like.....I like a lot.

Gypsy And The Cat
Spoiler:

I'm unsure of them, haven't got much of an opinion of them.

Jamie Woon

I love him, Spirits is the better song of the two provided but they're both worth a listen.

Big Deal

Another Youtube shy group.

Grouplove
Spoiler:

I don't think they're awful but I have a feeling they have the potential to become very annoying.

Oh Land
Spoiler:

NME describes her as similar to Lykke Li but I think she shares more with The Knife. I like her, I'm becoming quite a fan of alternate scandinavian pop strangely enough (not a sentence I thought I'd ever say)

Fixers

Again they don't seem to be on Youtube.

MONA
Spoiler:

They're nicknamed 'Princes of Leon' which suits them, they come across as the poundland version of KOL. I'll probably give them a bit more of a chance when I can find more of their material.

Spark
Spoiler:

Hmm, another one I'm unsure on. I think she could go either way.

Cults
Spoiler:

A bit boring, I could grow to like them though.

Suuns

Hmm, not bad. They have potential.

Tribes

Another shy band...

Vondelpark

Someone needs to tell the indie scene about a wonderful invention called youtube.

Odd Furniture

Stop me if you've heard this one before...

The original....article I suppose, can be found here with links to free downloads and such for some artists.

Any you care about? I'm most interested in Anna Calvi, Jamie Woon, Oh Land and Niki & The Dove.

I've seen him a thousand times before, very generic.

Novo 04-01-2011 01:48 PM

He is the best thing since Mario Barrett

Mario back on the Scenes in 2011 my sources are telling me

Tom4784 04-01-2011 02:45 PM

As if the first time wasn't bad enough.

InOne 04-01-2011 02:46 PM

Infact out of that list I do like Mona, but can't see them becoming big or anything

Novo 04-01-2011 02:50 PM

Dezzy if you don't like Mario then their is no hope for you, I don't know anyone who doesn't like " Let me Love you "

It's a case of KOL getting there first really.

Ah come on Novo stick to Tupac. I don't see the love for this generic as hell soft spoken black dudes moaning about love thing. RnB I'm told it's called. RnB must be the most boring music on the planet. And it's so unknowingly gay.

Patrick 04-01-2011 03:00 PM

cba looking at them all but I like Naked and Famous and The Jessie Price Tag girl.

I prefer Rap any day of the week, Tupac, Kadafi, BT&H > the two songs i've posted in this thread

But a lot of R&B songs ( Mainly the one's released in 2001-2004 ) are so catchy it's hard not to like them, Mario just takes me back to year 7-8 when everyone use to love him, and the only thing gay about R&B is Johnny Dangerous

Strange question...but Jessie J...is that the same one who is in the and on that tv program. Dont forget the lyrics I think its called?

Shaun 04-01-2011 03:18 PM
