Eve Morey, who plays the guide dog trainer, admits she was stunned when the show's producers took her aside to brief her on this shocking storyline development. "It's huge," Eve agrees. "I didn't even have words for it. When I was told of the storyline, I couldn't speak for 10 minutes. I was just sitting there with my mouth open going, 'What?'"

As Eve notes, ever since Sonya arrived in 2008, there's never been even the slightest indication she's related to Callum. After all, she met Callum and Toadie through what we believed to be a chance encounter - training the pair's puppy, Rocky. After many ups and downs in their love-life, Sonya recently moved in with the lawyer and his adopted son. But now this? "Initially, I thought, 'How could this work - Sonya being Callum's mum?'" Eve concedes. "But then I realised it does work. All of a sudden, it creates even more depth and complexity to Sonya and the decisions she's made and her motivations for things like forgiving Toadie for his and Steph's sham marriage. There's this whole other layer," the actress says. "But Sonya's feelings for Toadie are genuine."

Asked how it could be possible that Callum wouldn't remember his own mum, Eve says that's one of the issues addressed. "We did have to look at that," she agrees. "But he's never known much about his mother. His great-grandmother raised him and never gave him much information since she was so disappointed in Sonya, who had Callum at 16. I also think Callum's blocked out any image he had of her, who he hasn't seen for many years." And as for why Sonya herself hasn't told Callum the truth, Eve believes that it's because she "doesn't feel deserving of being his mother". "Sonya hates the person that she used to be and wants to distance herself from that person completely," she continues. "She thinks it's better that Callum knows her like she is now - that she simply give him the support he needs now instead of him identifying with the old and very troubled Sonya." But the big question, of course, is will Callum and Toadie discover the shocking truth? Either way, Eve promises us that there's plenty more to come! "It's really great to play," she enthuses.

Sounds a brilliant storyline. However a bit far fetched too. We didn't get any hints from Sonya when she first came to the street that she's Callum's mum!

I am still wondering how the lovely Kyle Canning will come back onto the scene! :love:

We know Sonya was an alchoholic who had been in prison & she kept her distance from her family... And Callum was raised by his 'gran' as his Mum was 'inside'... If she had him when she was 16 & went inside when he was a toddler he wouldn't remember her... Though surely he would have seen photos of her... :conf:

I don't think Kyle will be making a 'big comeback' as I'm not sure if he was supposed to have left anyway, he's probably been busily working at Charlie's the whole time, just not seen on screen!

Yeah I suppose Kyle will be shown more behind Charlie's or something! Apparently Rebecca leaves soon! So maybe Kyle will take over Charlie's? I heard that Kyle was back in January, but if that means on screen or filming I'm not sure...

Apparently Rebecca & Declan will be on screen until April in Oz...

But there is a chance the old Declan could return as James Sorenson has quit the army due to an injury, so he is back acting! That would be so good to have him back, Erin Mullally just doesn't cut it...

Harold is back for six weeks later in the year...

And it is looking that Benji McNair is indeed returning to play Mal Kennedy too...

I think Mal is coming back because Zeke is leaving, be good for Karl & Susan to have another of their brood back :D
