Messi wins Ballon d'Or: What a joke!!!!

Xavi has been robbed of the award he is the heartbeat of the Barca and Spain teams respectivly and was easily the best player of the last year , Yes Messi is great great player but a player who played so average at best at the biggest footballing stage in the world (The world cup) does not deserve to be given the award

Messi is by far the best player in the world, better on the ball than Ronaldo, and his goalscoring record is amazing

Legend killer 11-01-2011 11:07 AM

Maybe last year but a Ronaldo on top form is a bigger threat than Messi , he offers the aerial presence that Messi cannot. Another thing you have to consider is that Messi plays in a joke of a league ( so does Ronaldo now but he is proven in the PL) where the defenders don't even try to tackle you , i personally feel that Messi would struggle a lot in the PL because of the physical side to it.

Also Messi at Barca has in Iniesta and Xavi the best CM's in the world, aswell as having most of the top players in the world in his team Ie: Villa etc so it is not exactly hard to be a great player when you have a team like that.

Locke. 11-01-2011 11:11 AM

He has proven himself against the best in the Champions League though, completely took Arsenal apart a few months ago scoring 4 past them in the one game

That best 11 they have picked aswell just shows what is becoming of Football... All the best English players are getting old now and there isn't that many young players coming through that are that good. Going to be a long time before England ever challenge for a World Cup again

Messi is great i think Iniesta has been better than Xavi though?

Messi destroyed us but we arent a physical team.. i think the wolves blackburn etc would rough him up and he'd end up injured pretty often.. but..

47 goals in 53 games... last season ( 11 assists )
28 goals in 26 games... this season ( 15 assists )

Its impressive.

Messi would end up like Torres in the PL his body would just not be able to cope with the physical side of the game.

Another thing which pissed me off was that Snijder was not higher than he was , imo a better player than iniesta

Locke. 11-01-2011 01:21 PM

Torres has only had 1 bad season and that is this year, before this year he had 56 league goals in 79 league games, that is a much better goal ratio than Rooney and Drogba

30stone 11-01-2011 01:22 PM

Iniesta is class.

Personally Fabregas > Snijder/iniesta/xavi

30stone 11-01-2011 01:25 PM

Fio Ferdinand who voted for england 1st Snijder 2nd Iniesta 3rd Xavi

30stone 11-01-2011 01:28 PM

Who was in the 11?

Locke. 11-01-2011 01:36 PM

Can't remember them all now, it was 6 of Spain's squad, Sneijder, and Ronaldo though. Then 3 others.

30stone 11-01-2011 01:42 PM

Drogba and fabregas were wernt they?

Locke. 11-01-2011 01:48 PM

Drogba definitely wasn't, can't remember seeing Fabregas either.
