Arguably the most successful version of Big Brother in the world has returned for it's 11th series. It's been known to have 80%+ shares of the ratings and last year broke the record for the most votes cast in any reality show anywhere in the world with over 154m votes cast in the final.


And for those who don't know, Big Brother Brazil has long had a successful hybrid of the original and US formats going on. Basically each week the Head of House (Lider) nominates one person, the other HMs vote for the second (and I think now a third) nominee and then the viewers choose who is evicted.

They also have their version of the Veto - the "Angel", who not only saves a nominee but gets to dish out a punishment to a HM too. This year they have a Saboteur too, chosen by a vote after the premiere a few days ago.

Everyone goes on and on about the amount of votes cast in Brazil. You can vote online, multiple times.

Its as always doing great this year as far as ratings, ( minimum 50% share)but to be fair, IMO It hasnt been really entertaining apart from Ariadna's storyline: very pretty transgender who hasnt yet told anyone about the her sex change and keeps giving the guys lap dances and has already kissed one, but she so wont be the brazilian version of Nadia, cuz 1- this is a catholic conservative country, 2 - most of the viewing public feel that she should have already told the truth, since a fair amount of the male housemates seem to be interested in snogging her, and if they do, theyll probably be pissed that they were snogging a born man, and she'll be considered a fake by the viewing public.
The only another relevant thing about BBB is that the prize fund is huge, R$1.500.000,00, which is over half a million pounds and they still get to earn cars, apartments, trips, clothes and etc from the tasks.

But any country that actually puts the name of their country onto the end of the title of their TV Show is quite stupid.

You don't see us actually calling ours 'Big Brother United Kingdom' we just call it Big Brother.

I guess they just did that because the name of the country starts with B, but its still stupid anyway

I havent watched a lot of BB USA, but I'd say the main difference between them two is that on BB Brazil the housemate evicted is chosen by the public, even the living room is similar, in L shape, with the TV on the corner, so the presenter gets to chat with the housemates, the tasks are very similar as well, most of them are about resistence, ( the last one dancing, the last one holding something etc ) so the HoH is chosen. There is definetely an exchange between BB USA and BBB because i've heard that the main producer from the american version was invited to visit our Big Brother so he could see how it works, the tasks, etc and the same with the main producer from our version ,who also went to America so check it out how its produced up there.

how many channels do they have in brazil? it's not hard to be the most popular show if you have have 5 channels to chose from. lol
