This Is England 88 - Press Release
Shane Meadows has been told that his drama This Is England '90, a sequel to this year's This Is England '86 TV series, has been given the green light. The new TV series will follow the adventures of principal characters Shaun, Woody, Lol and Milky four years after the previous show, reports the Metro.
This Is England '86 caught up with the gang three years after they were seen in the film This Is England. Channel 4's head of drama Camilla Campbell said: "This Is England will be returning to C4. It is a continuation of the same characters four years on, looking at rave culture and the World Cup. Shane is brimming with ideas and we are really excited." Meadows discussed the possibility of making This Is England '90 in an interview with The Independent earlier this year. He said the 1990s were a "big turning point". "The next really big turning point in my life was 1990," he said, "with The Haçienda, the rave, The Stone Roses, ecstasy, the whole shambolic thing. "I'd seen a lot of friends get into heroin off the back of that, so in a kind of way, Shaun's journey, if there is to be a second series, will continue in 1990." I didn't see a thread on it so thought would post, sounds good :D wonder if we have to wait another 3-4 years though? |
And then they'll milk it...
This Is England '96 And then they'll abuse it... This Is England '06 And then they'll axe it. |
it would be 94, 98, 02, 06, 10.... every 4 years

Good news :D
Hope they dont do a 4 year interval though, I dont see why it's necessary for 4 years to have actually passed before it airs |

Might be able to show aging through make-up, 4 years isnt too much. Pleased about this though, '86 was good!

This is England '86
You already know there's going to be a This Is England '90. But did you know there will be a This Is England '88 as well? Shane Meadows announced the one-off Christmas special at today's South Bank awards as he collected the best TV Drama award. :amazed: |
Stephen Graham ( Combo ) won't be appearing in any of them anyway.. the show he is currently staring in ( Playing Al Capone ) has just won 2 golden globe awards and he's been in all 12 episodes in the first season.. probably getting paid 5x as much as well

The movie was good. The series was a decidedly average Skinsefied bore. I might give it a chance.

Well it is looking more and more like we have 3hrs of television on our hands here in 1988. I still can't get my head around how we managed to get all that done in four five day weeks but that's where we're heading baby. We will have some new scenes to pickup but we are in great shape in the edit already so it should be a christmas to remember for TIE fans.
I am still aiming to create a one off piece (they call them 'films' i think) for cinema screenings (though it would be my longest film to date), and film festivals etc so there will hopefully still be a chance to see it on the big screen. The other bit of news is that my Son Arty, makes a cameo appearance in the final Episode, so keep em peeled. He takes after his mum in the looks department though so don't lookout for bushy eyebrows as it will lead you up the wrongest of pathways. |
:amazed:

3 hours is great. I also like the idea of it being screened in a cinema.
