The Olympic Stadium - West Ham V Spurs

I am not normally that interested in Sport but have been taking a keen interest in the debate about what will happen to the Olympic Stadium in London once the events have finished in September 2012.

Do you think that Alan Sugar will fire Karren Brady as his new assistant if West Ham in the battle:spin:

I just realised (but I am probably way behind everyone else) that the outcome could change 'The Apprentice' forever lol

Not really that bothered, but isn't it in a different part of London than what Tottenham is in? If so, and it is in the same place as West Ham, then West Ham should obviously get it.

Sure - completely different parts of London and I agree that West Ham are probably the better choice. I am just so looking forward to the next boardroom session lol

Not sure if I want West Ham to get it or not

Don't want it.

Spurs fan.

Neither of the proposals are great. The stadium is out of Spurs' area and the running track will be largely redundant with the West Ham bid. Running tracks could spoil the atmosphere and the fans won't like it. Stadium might be too big and empty for West Ham's purposes also. So Spurs' bid is slightly better.

I read an article where it was suggested that a running track could have been added to Wembley Stadium for £20 million. http://www.bdonline.co.uk/spurs-is-r...d/5011759.blog Surely, that would have been better than spending £800 million, or whatever it is?

West Ham have won this one according to the BBC.

West Ham beat Tottenham to Olympic stadium
By Adrian Warner
Olympics correspondent, BBC London

West Ham have won the battle for the 2012 stadium, BBC London has learned.

Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) executives have decided the offer from the club is a better solution than the rival bid from Tottenham.

The OPLC board will be asked to support the view at a meeting on Friday, when it is expected to confirm West Ham as its preferred bidder.

The government and London's mayor, Boris Johnson, will then take a final decision in the coming weeks.

It would be a surprise if ministers and the mayor overturn OPLC executives, who have spent the last few months discussing the various plans with both clubs in detail.
