CHERYL COLE might have to unpack the suntan lotion - her American dream is in crisis.
Producers of the American X Factor are having a big wobble about the GIRLS ALOUD star's ability to pull in viewers as a show judge.

They would rather a home-grown big-name star, such as KATY PERRY or RIHANNA took the gig.

SIMON COWELL is now fighting tooth and nail to persuade the producers to vote Geordie and back Cheryl.

A pal of her boyfriend DEREK HOUGH said: "Everyone thinks Cheryl has the judging job on US X Factor in the bag.

"The truth is, nothing has been signed and the producers still aren't convinced.

"They are more keen to get a big US star like Katy or Rihanna on the panel - someone who will bring credibility to the show and who is already popular in the US."


Cheryl has already banked on the move to LA - checking out apartments in the city and getting ready for a fresh start.

Her dancer fella Derek and other showbiz mates including WILL.I.AM and JUSTIN BIEBER are also encouraging the move.

But the bottom line is simple - the producers still need convincing. Simon wields a lot of power but he has to play a diplomatic game on US soil to keep Fox, who are making the show, sweet.

The source added: "Simon has been the only one pushing for her and trying to convince everyone that she'll be a big hit.

"They want to see if the American public warm to her before she takes on such a high-profile role in one of the biggest shows on US TV.

"There have been lots of heated conversations and debates about it."

Unfortunately for us Brits, she might be denied entry to the USA because of her criminal conviction for assaulting a black toilet attendant (oh, she's such a little sweetheart ain't she?:rolleyes:). I sincerely hope not as I can't think of a more deserving recipient of the talentless little madam than America. With luck she will stay there permanently.

Yea but we'll still be hearing/reading about her from the media telling us how the nations princess/sweetheart is doing over there and how she's conquering America bla bla bla etc.

Of course they want someone who's already popular in the states to promote a brand new show. I doubt anybody even knows who Cheryl is over there.

She is a crap judge. Compare CC to Kara DioGuardi and it would be embarrassing

I also rather Victoria Beckham became a judge rather than Cheryl Cole. I enjoyed Victoria's stint on American Idol last year.

I quite liked Kara. Shame she quit. Shame Paula quit too.

Oh I hope Mr Cowell gets her in, otherwise we will have to suffer her tantrums and total self importance again here on the UK X factor.

It's good though, That way we won't be at risk of having Perry replace Simon this year, if she's busy in America.

And Cheryl can ****** off if she thinks she's allowed back onto our X Factor after packing up and deciding to leave us like that, Bitch needs to realise we made her and we can take it away just as easily.

Is nobody else embarrassed by the media attention that Cheryl is getting over possibly being on the American X Factor? Pitching her to producers as a major star in the UK, captured the nations hearts etc etc. Then the Americans wait with baited breath for this "star", this British version of Nicole Scherzinger or whoever and then when she eventually performs, it either comes out live and as flat as anything or she mimes to an electronic voice. And even when she's just speaking on the panel and won't be able to understand her. What will they think? lol

IMO, they're both very ordinary .....
