The Sky Freeview chat and discussion thread [MERGED]

freeview is the best as it free and has Tna FREE

arista 05-05-2010 06:13 PM

Yes but its about Channel Space.

Virgin in order to Add ITV1HD
had to delete yet another +1 channel.

Freeview is having problems
as FreeviewHD now gets first choice.
FreeviewHD got Ch4HD
but FreesatHD did not.

Sky has the Most Channels
and can add as many as They wish
like 3-D HD channel.

Watch Channel
is trying to get onto Freeview
if they get the next Big Brother Endemol contract.

Like Sky.

We get free channels such as Channel 4 and RTÉ1, about 15 of them but you don't need to buy a box.

I have heard that we will get freeview in the coming months though.

Not as **** as Sky, where you have to pay to watch

Stacey. 23-05-2010 02:34 PM

we have some Sky and some Freeview mixed as when we dropped Sky to change to Freeview, it still carried some Sky channels over with it.

would like more music channels on Freeview though.

301 BBC interactive is moving from Mux B to Mux 1 pre DSO only

This morning the BBC are testing 301 on Mux 1 in the London area as a fifth video stream. It has no LCN so will not tune in. Null packets on Mux 1 are down to 500kbps from 2Mbps.

The content can be seen to be identical to that on Mux B which is still live with LCN301. The Mux 1 version is also 544x576 with 192kbps and 128kbps audio channels. Bit rates will be up on www.10ash.info shortly.

At some point they will switch over to the Mux 1 version to enable sufficient capacity on Mux B for its third commercial stream, which will also be shown on post DSO Arq A.

I guess swapping one video stream between muxes is easier than ten radio / audio streams.

Also changed today, the long running retune caption for Community Channel on Mux B has finally been removed
