Well after the 28th February, programmes like Corrie will get money for mentioning brand names in the show (though Ofcom has ruled that it must not be obtrusive)

Woah
Does this mean if Big Brother is ever brought back they could basically take off the stickers to cover things like beer brands and stuff?

Kerry 13-02-2011 11:48 PM

Cue Coca Cola cans all over X Factor....

Not beer
"Tobacco, alcohol, gambling, foods or drinks that are high in fat, salt or sugar, medicines and baby milk are banned from being advertised."

Kerry 14-02-2011 12:03 AM

*Changes that to bottles of Evian on every talent show known to man*

So on BB we can see the fairy liquid but not the Carlsberg :joker:

I understand not advertising booze and ciggies BEFORE the watershed, but why not after?

InOne 14-02-2011 12:14 AM

Exactly, and the certain foods and drinks thing seems ridiculous as well. No real money in it

Very true

Though all the big supermarkets advertise their booze offers constantly whenever and wherever

What a faff!

There are specific guidelines laid down as to what can and can't be advertised, same sort of rules have been applied to product placement, otherwise some of the dweebs would say that certain programs endorse alcohol abuse, smoking, etc.

Also most of the serial dramas/soaps etc where product placement would be big bucks reshow the programs later in the week during daytime hours.

The news today showed one that had been on This Morning today. Nescafe had paid £100k to have a coffee maker in the background of their kitchen for 3 months. You can barely see it, let alone make out WTF it's supposed to be

Scarlett. 01-03-2011 09:10 PM

Here it is, lmao
