U.S. seeks immediate steps on Libya crisis
Oh well here we go again.

So is this a case of Uncle Sam using its power and influence for the benefit of others or simply trying to get its claws into another oil rich nation? (Each new episode in the Libyan crisis sends the price of oil rocketing up or spiralling down, must be playing hell with the yanks) |

It's a tricky situation, as at the risk of doing something some may call morally correct they are undermining a nations sovereignty. I don't think military action is the right thing to do, although I suppose that doesn't mean it is a bad thing to do.
|
I like the way they are ready to leap into Libya (bad relations with US) but not too keen to use their might and influence with Egypt or Bahrain (good relations with US).
|
It's not just Libya we need to invade. In Iraq dozens of protestors were killed by their corrupt government. We need to invade Iraq and give them demo... oh wait... we're already there... and that's our government we installed... awkward

Egypt in crisis, now Libya in crisis.
US and UK governments and media are spinning so much bullsh** propaganda day and night its unreal Just watching news few minutes ago and heard Hague and Mandelson talking about Gaddafi's WM ******in Ds. They seriously think people will swallow the same bullsh** again Its beyond a joke |

The US need to wind their neck in a bit if they keep sticking it out like that somebody will have a chop at it.
|
I do think something needs to be done about Gadaffi but a war isn't the way to go, I really doubt the US' and our motives if we do go to war since as others have said it's an oil heavy country.
I'd say do the right thing and go with the sanctions to force him out. |

You are having a Laugh Sanctions will not be his problem that will make it Worse for the poor. These Rebels are not brave enough to take his Town out. Until they bring in / hire Pro Killers he will just stay there with his gang. |

Yes Logical but he can still get Baked bread in his Zone. And The Rebals can not take him out - on there own. |
Obviously it's a tricky situation. People have short memories. This is not the first time arab countries have done a major overhaul. Let us not forget that most of these current dictators got into power via the same kind of protestors and uprisings.
So will the next gen middle east be any better? History tells us no. But we can all hope. The US and most of the west are taking a very measured approach to this because we've seen it all before. |
