I do that on msn just say i'm off cya and log straight out :laugh:

Sometimes that is actually best. I think people get more pissed off when you say "bye" but don't actually go.... wooooops! :hugesmile:

Its not very polite and it does annoy me but the thing that really annoys me most is when someone walking towards you ask 'how's things with you', then continue walking on past you.
What on earth is the point of asking someone a question but not stopping to hear the answer.

Whenever I say bye on MSN i'm never going to wait for a response.

I usually do that....just say bye then log out or close window. Ill wait for a short while but as long as Ive said bye then I feel ok. Least they know you've gone. I usually have several windows open so can sometimes be distracted elsewhere and they think Ive gone without saying bye. Thats worse.

plus if you say you have to go and then stay there waiting ages for their reply you kinda look like a liar.
