How Does Everybody Feel About...

... female pilots?

Now, I know I shouldn't feel like this but whilst I was staying with my cousins in Mauritius, they threw a party where a lot of airport staff were present. I presumed the dishy men were the pilots and the women were the cabin crew/ground staff..

I was introduced to one woman who was a pilot for Air France and I think I visibly recoiled! I'd never really thought about it before and I know it's wrong, but I think if during take off I heard "Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I'm Amanda and I'll be your pilot today" I reckon I'd grab my life vest and just make a jump for it!

Discuss...

Lee!!

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest tbh a pilot is a pilot, they all have to go through the same training.

I don't need to discuss it ..... the gender of a pilot is irrelevant - training, experience and skill are far more important .....

I know.. lol. I don't really know why I feel this way.

I think I'd just feel safer with a man flying the plane as usually they are not as prone to hysteria in a crisis!

I would actually feel far safer with a female pilot, just as I feel far safer with a woman driving a bus or a car if I'm a passenger. Statistically, women have fewer accidents and take fewer risks.

Yeah.. I feel safer with a woman driver. I think men are more likely to speed and take silly risks. However i still think that in an emergency, women are more likely to panic than men:blush:

Really? Why though, have you experienced alot of panicky women in emergencies? I haven't! also, if a women was the panicky type, she's hardly going to even want to be a pilot!

Well I can only speak for myself, and I've never panicked in my life (though I've been in some pretty scary situations at times), but you do get these stupid airhead bimbos who think it's cute to be helpless and useless. They give the rest of us a bad name. However, I'm pretty confident that those types don't generally have the intelligence or motivation to put themselves through pilot training!

Personally I admire women who make it in a generally male dominated environment, and any woman who has battled her way through discrimination and prejudice to achieve what they want in a usually testesterone filled profession probably has a much stronger character and resolve than the average man.

Male or female I wouldn't care as long as they could fly the plane - although I think the men look better in uniform

Smithy 03-03-2011 03:18 PM

They can't drive cars properly, I'm sure as hell not gonna get on a plane with one at the wheel/gear stick/w.e it's called
