Did you know...

That the UK has had 3 Tsunami's before?

The last being in 1755 after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake.

I never knew that.

Kerry 15-03-2011 01:36 AM

No. I know we have lots of earthquakes. Just little ones thankfully

Kerry 15-03-2011 01:41 AM

Apparently we lie on an ancient fault line that some scientists are saying is becoming active again.

In the event of a Tsunami, we'd be so unprepared. Me and Shaun would be the first to go.

I think I would pass out with shock if I saw a big tsunami coming towards me.

Kerry 16-03-2011 02:00 AM

I'm pretty much in the middle but that means I'd just have too much time to think about whats coming

Yeah, I've been reading up on them. It took 4 hours for the wave to arrive from that earthquake, apparently. So that is some warning?

Yeah but how would they warn people? Especially, say, it was at this time of night? And down here in Devon/Cornwall a lot people out of the cities live miles apart.

And where would I go, most of where I live is flat.

I'd imagine they'd use every siren they could to alert people. I remember the sirens they used from the coastguard when I was a kid at Mablethorpe beach and that was just for stormy seas but you bloody moved I tell you

Trouble is they wouldn't have enough time for everyone down here as there are a lot of remote areas and not enough highlands.

It actually just made me shudder to think of a Tsunami hitting us in the dark.

Suppose it would depend on what cuased to tsunami in the first place. Yes, an earthquake, but where..... Theres always warning, the entire planets activity is constantly monitored, just depends how much warning....
