John Terry re-instated as England Captain

TEAM_talk
John Terry installed as England's permanent captain for third time after being forgiven by Fabio Capello for off-the-field behaviour.

Mystic Mock 19-03-2011 10:11 PM

his gonna have more affairs now that he is captain again.

Shaun 19-03-2011 10:26 PM

because having an affair is okay once 6 months pass x

Novo 19-03-2011 10:27 PM

Not sure he should ever have been demoted anyway

Locke. 19-03-2011 10:34 PM

But Capello said on Saturday: "After one year of punishment, Terry will again be the permanent captain. I think one year's punishment is enough."

Capello continued: "I tried to meet Rio at the Manchester United game [against Marseille in the Champions League] on Wednesday.

"He was ready to meet me but he preferred not to meet us. I don't know why. It is a question for him, not me.

"I was ready, I wanted to speak with him and explain my decision.
"I hope I will meet him in the future to speak with him personally and privately, not by phone because I think by phone is not so good.

"I hope he will be fit to play for the national team because he is one of the most important people with his experience and value as a player.

"I spoke with Steven and it is no problem for him."

Rio is not happy

Novo 19-03-2011 10:37 PM

They'll both be gone in the next 2 years anyway, It's all about Gary Cahill and Smalling now

joeysteele 19-03-2011 10:56 PM

Seems a backward thinking step to me, It would have been better to have moulded some new, younger player into the role for the future.

A really good clean out rather than making do with who's in is what is needed for the England team.

DDRickyDD 19-03-2011 11:15 PM

It's a disgrace. Terry has no right to be anywere near the captancy.

Vicky. 19-03-2011 11:16 PM

OK, I know next to nothing about football...but dont really see why he was stripped of his captaincy for having an affair. Its not really anything to do with how well he does his job :/

Locke. 19-03-2011 11:19 PM

He is the captain, supposed to set an example and lead the team, not sleep with one of his team mates girlfriends

Locke. 19-03-2011 11:24 PM

It has all worked out better for Bridge now anyway, he is with Frankie Sandford

Stu 19-03-2011 11:29 PM

Every time I see his name my heart rate alarmingly goes up. When Craig Bellamy effectively labels you a scumbag then there can be no defence. The sheer level of his rotten nature is quite literally written all over his face ... a truly abhorrent human being.

well considering he plays for the same team as the bloke who was seeing the girl he had an affair with, it's just a TINY BIT unprofessional.

Novo 19-03-2011 11:49 PM

Making Gerrard Captain was an even bigger Joke, A captain should always be a center back or Goalkeeper IMO. they can see the whole match from the Back, I hate Midfielders or Forwards being Captains

Vicky. 20-03-2011 12:20 AM

Wasn't the girl he was shagging Wayne Bridges EX? Hardly the same thing :S

(Though Im just going on what I was told by my mate, who is a chelsea fan, so she might well have altered the story a bit :p )

Shaun 20-03-2011 12:24 AM

I heard that too but there was that confrontation on the pitch, Man City vs. Chelsea, where Wayne Bridge deliberately skipped shaking Terry's hand, so I assume he must have been seeing her

Novo 20-03-2011 12:33 AM

John terry was shagging her when she was with Wayne Bridge but her and Wayne bridge weren't seeing each other when it all came out they split up at Christmas and the story came out Late January last year

30stone 20-03-2011 12:09 PM

John Terry is england best current captain.

He was always good as englands captain.

Shouldnt have been taken from him anyway.

Grimnir 20-03-2011 12:30 PM

i still want capello sacked or we will win nothing so dont matter who captain is really

joeysteele 20-03-2011 01:03 PM

Gerrard was a better Captain than Terry, I don't really think Terry can inspire. I still think a new younger Captain is needed now for the long term future.

bbfan1991 20-03-2011 03:02 PM

I admit Terry was a good captain and now Rio struggles with his injuries but I think Capello is unprofessional in how he has treated Gerrard and Ferdinand.. clear that he doesn't give a damn about what the players think and morals go out fo the window but all footballers are bad when it comes to that;).

Angus 20-03-2011 04:16 PM

I had no idea it was meant to be a temporary "punishment" - how convenient. What happened to the reasons a year ago that he dishonoured the England Captaincy; he brought the game into disrepute, he's an immoral, disloyal a*sehole, he was and still is a rubbish role model for young men? Seems all that's gone out the window:bored:

You are right Angus58, he dishonoured the English Captaincy, for me that should mean he doesn't get it back, he is now I think past his best,if he ever had a best that warranted the Captaincy in the first place.

So I think its time to hand it over to some younger player who can restore the decency of the English Captaincy to back to a time when someone like Bryan Robson was Captain and what a totally decent, guy he is and so he was as Captain of England too I believe.

Locke. 20-03-2011 04:56 PM

Funny thing is he has just picked up a knock against Man City and could be out of the game now :joker:

Ferdinand and Gerrard out aswell

joeysteele 20-03-2011 04:58 PM

Gerrard should have been Captain long before Terry even. Pity Gerrard is injured.
