LOL, OMG and ♥ enter the Oxford English Dictionary
Today the Oxford University Press announced the addition of LOL, OMG, and ♥ (yeah, the symbol) to the newest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary.
The new entries join previous infiltrators IMHO, TMI, and BFF in the hallowed pages of the grammar bible. These initialisms now get to rub shoulders against fancypants words like accoutrements, magnanimous, and pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (yes, that's actually a word), which is sure to piss off a segment of educators who wear patches on their elbows and love to discuss Hegelian dialectical principles over snifters of Glenfiddich. You can read more about the new additions on the official OED website. And people say forum posters and web commenters can't invoke change... Game Informer |

I didn't think they did symbols.

How is ♥ in there?
I understand the others being in there, but really a ♥ ? -wants no1curr to be in there- |
I want smileys in there next since they added <3 .
|
♥ isnt a word, or a letter at that??? :conf:
|
♥ is a weird one to put in.
|
Surely <3 would be more appropriate?
|
I'm guessing there's a recognised symbols section, for the copyright, registered, etc.
|
does that mean if I right it in an essay I can't be docked marks?
