Django Unchained
Uma Thurman has confirmed that Quentin Tarantino's follow-up to Inglourious Basterds will be a Western film titled A Southern.
Thurman, who worked with Tarantino on Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, told Hollywood Outbreak that the director's new movie will push back their reunion on another picture about Kill Bill's The Bride. "I think he has a script ready to start off a new film, A Southern," Thurman said. "I think it's really exciting. It's another new story and a fresh piece of material that he is channeling at the moment. So I think Kill Bill lives down the road." Tarantino reportedly delivered the script for A Southern this month and has cast his Oscar-winning Basterds actor Christoph Waltz in one of the lead roles. The filmmaker first outlined his plans for the Western in a 2009 interview with NY Daily News: "I'd like to do a Western. But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with. Let's shine that light on ourselves. "You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or, you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it A Southern." Tarantino recently become embroiled in a legal battle with True Blood creator Alan Ball, claiming that his neighbour's loud pet macaws were preventing him from working. |
I saw this earlier, well gutted Kill Bill's been delayed :bored:

Quentin Tarantino's next film project will allegedly be a remake of the 1966 Sergio Corbucci film Django.
Thompson on Hollywood confirmed that Tarantino has already handed a first draft of the screenplay to The Weinstein Company, and has renamed the film Django Unchained. The project will see Tarantino reunited with Pulp Fiction collaborator Stacey Sher, as well as his Inglourious Basterds star Christoph Waltz, who won an Academy Award for his role as the villainous Colonel Hans Landa. Hollywood Elsewhere, who claim to have acquired a copy of the draft, have revealed that the film will follow the story of a freed slave called Django who joins up with a German mercenary, played by Waltz, in order to free his wife from a plantation slaver. Other actors rumoured to be under consideration for parts in the film include the likes of Keith Carradine, Treat Williams and Franco Nero. Uma Thurman recently confirmed that Tarantino was working on a Western - called The Southern at the time - that had pushed back work on their proposed follow-up to Kill Bill Vol. 2. Django Unchained is set to enter production later this year. |
Not too excited about this. Uma Thurman isn't cut out for lead roles in my opinion.

She's not in it. That was just her commenting on KB3

More news since the confirmation of Quentin Tarantino’s latest project being titled Django Unchained. A couple of months ago the original Django, Franco Nero claimed to be working on a western in connection with Tarantino and Keith Carradine (brother of Kill Bill’s David Carradine). Aswell as this Tarantino expressed in an interview with The Guardian that he would be interested in making a ‘Southern’ dealing with ‘the big issues’ in America’s past. Therefore if Django is to be unchained in Tarantino’s ‘Southern’, should we expect a blaxploitation western in the making? And if so who will be in the lead? The obvious choice would be Samuel L. Jackson, but Tarantino’s casting decisions are far from predictable. Also on board is Christoph Waltz, who will no doubt create a character just as fascinating as Inglourious Basterds Colonel Hans Landa. Hopefully more will be revealed soon, but this is shaping up to be another Tarantino classic.
