Ex-Bill star and Ex-EastEnders star in running for Corrie top job
 

LISA Maxwell, an ex-TV cop in The Bill, is favourite to nick the top job in soap – landlady of the Rovers Return.

The ex-Sun Hill actress had a secret audition with Coronation Street bosses, now looking for a *replacement for Bev Callard, who plays Liz McDonald.

But Loose Women star Lisa, 47, faces stiff competition from Michelle Collins, best known as EastEnders super-bitch Cindy Beale, who has also auditioned.

A Corrie insider said no decision had been made, but added: “They are looking for a feisty blonde with plenty of attitude and Lisa and Michelle fit the bill.”

The new no-nonsense landlady, arriving with a sexy son and daughter, will take over from Liz, who is leaving the Rovers to join son Andy in Spain.

Lisa played cop Samantha Nixon in The Bill for nine years before quitting in 2009 after two miscarriages.
