Should Rooney be punished?
For swearing at the cameras?
Answer as if he's any well known footballer. Not Rooney/a Man Utd player |
Yes.
Like Lee Dixon said on MOTD, it's fine swearing at yourself, under your breath, etc.. but to just start swearing at the camera on live TV for no reason whatsoever.. He is just a bad dickhead, and hopefully they make an example out of him. And this was at about 1pm in the day, if a random other person mouthed off like he did at this time on another channel there would be murder. |
Have to say he did shock me. You'd think he'd learnt his lesson after his tantrum last time
My view - yes. He deserves punishment. In which way I'm not sure. Fines mean sod all to footballers on their wages |
A 6 month ban will be fine.

:D

Yeah but he probably wont be, can't believe he got away with elbowing that wigan player!

The England striker yelled “---- off” into a camera as he celebrated completing his hat-trick at Upton Park and, despite issuing a swift public apology for his behaviour through United’s website, the FA was last night facing calls to prove it is serious about improving standards of player behaviour by suspending him.
While the governing body is believed to favour issuing a written reprimand to Rooney, reminding him of his responsibilities, it has privately not ruled out stronger action. United, for their part, are fearful that the FA could seek to make an example of their talismanic forward by imposing severe sanctions, particularly in the wake of Sir Alex Ferguson’s five-match touchline ban for his comments about referee Martin Atkinson. The Premier League, while not being able to impose its own punishment, is understood to favour a hard-line approach. Rooney’s fit of pique came just 48 hours after Richard Scudamore, the organisation’s chief executive, had outlined plans for a revamped Respect campaign to begin next season and there is embarrassment at the image portrayed by Rooney in a match beamed to 211 countries. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...ntroversy.html Sounds promising |
well considering everybody of all ages watch football,i think he probably should have a 2 match ban.
|
He has been banned for 2 games :)
Misses the Fulham and FA Cup Semi Final against Man City |

Yes he needs one on one help
and if he does it again he is Sacked. End of. |
Obivously what Rooney said is wrong but you get endless amounts of thugs that turn up to football matches and scream more obscenities then that, some football players swear and adrenaline gets high when they score and the thrill of silencing a crowd shouting abuse is too hard to resist reacting back..
Yeah as a footballer he has responsibility to be a role model to kids etc although judging by his recent behaviour-not!, as for those complaining about the kids then if parents are worried about their kids hearing that language WHY take them to a football match in the first place when that thing is common to be shouted in the stands, some of their parents might swear after a goal has been scored and the kids hear all sorts on the playgrounds and from people around them.. |
Why did he do it though, that's what I don't get :joker:
He is supposed to be celebrating then just starts roaring at the camera |
Oh and if the FA wants a family image then I guess they have to stop the ferocious chants footie fans are known to do, will just wreck the atmosphere of the game although some do go OTT and need telling off!
Guess it's fine for those fans who called Colleen a slag then, nice image to set too with young kids near by:joker:. |

Another thing I don't understand is because of the OTT reaction (IMO) if these people are so offended by what he said why are Sky Sports News or the normal news programmes continuing to show the footage with the bleepers on of course?

This ban is nowhere near enough for his immoral outburst. He should be banned for 5 matches and fined 5 weeks wages.

He needs to learn to simply 'behave' when he is aware the cameras are there and he clearly knows they are. |

Like the newcastle game.. And then blackburn this week they should have had 2 players booked inside 10 minutes but no.. |
