Louis Theroux - Americas Most Hated Family In Crisis

DO NOT WATCH IF EASILY OFFENDED!

Repeat - BBC2 tonight at 11:20PM (Also on BBC iPlayer)

Quote:

Following up on his 2007 documentary, The Most Hated Family in America, Louis Theroux returns to Topeka, Kansas, for a week-long visit with the Westboro Baptist Church.

He again joins the Phelps family on their controversial pickets where they try to antagonise communities with offensive slogans and anti-gay placards. But four years on from Louis's last visit, there are signs of disarray in the Phelps clan. A series of defections of family members has shaken up the church.
Saw it last night. Made my blood boil

I watched it like 6 months ago. It would have made me very angry if it hadnt made me cry.

I'll probably watch it eventually even though it will again make me very sad. :(

Ditto.

Love this kind of stuff. Makes me cry with laughter and cry with desperation at the same time.

I know. I actually questioned myself when I watched it as I'd never wish that on my worst enemy but watching that.....

I did come to my senses. Realised that made me no better than them. But it took some teeth gritting

MTVN 04-04-2011 10:33 PM

Missed it last night so watching it now, I actually despise them, they really make my skin crawl

Kerry 04-04-2011 10:35 PM

Totally brainwashed

GypsyGoth 04-04-2011 10:37 PM

I feel sorry for them.

GypsyGoth 04-04-2011 10:38 PM

I do for the kids/teens. Not the adults. They're just total idiots

MTVN 04-04-2011 10:43 PM

Nice twist on Telephone there

MTVN 04-04-2011 10:48 PM

Piss myself if they get sued for it.

MTVN 04-04-2011 10:52 PM

I thought she might have left actually after what was shown of her last time, she seemed quite uncertain when he went there before

KG. 04-04-2011 10:54 PM

So delusional it doesn't even make me angry, it just makes me laugh.

GypsyGoth 04-04-2011 11:00 PM

I wonder if I was born into that family would I believe that stuff as well.

Shaun 04-04-2011 11:01 PM

They're just attention-seekers. The absolute ridiculousness of their beliefs kind of numbs how offensive they really are, you just think they're a joke, but picketing at dead soldier's funerals...just...if you're going to wish for a deity to kill someone or send them to damnation, it'd be this family.

GypsyGoth 04-04-2011 11:06 PM

It's horrible how they turn their back on family members who leave the church.
