Will BB1-11 now be referred to as "the classic Big Brothers"?

Since they were all in their own sort of era. They had the same presenter and channel etc.

Patrick 06-04-2011 07:15 PM

They weren't, until you made this thread LOL.

No, but yeah they're in a different era now.

The end of one era, this is the start of a new one.
It's crazy because, I'm being optimistic here - if BB Channel 5 does take off and becomes 'groundbreaking' and 'TV Gold' like it once was, then this means we are at the start of 'New TV History'.

It's like if you think back to 2000 when no one knew that BB1 would be so big, this is like then.

No one here thinks BB12 will be big, but it could be and then in about 10 Years when this new era is coming to it's end, we'll be like 'I remember in 2011 being on TiBB when it all started...'

:P

Imagine if this goes down as the most epic flop in the history of the entertainment industry. All this hype will go in the book of "how not to do it" for TV producers...

That's what I think is going to happen to be honest.
February 2012 newspaper headlines: "Big Brother has been evicted... AGAIN!"

:p
I just can't see this taking off and becoming amazing again. You've all been on websites like the Guardian where they post a Big Brother story and everyone goes crazy in the comments about how awful it is. That's really what the majority of the British public are thinking, and I don't think their minds can be changed at all!

Those are the kind of people who need to shut the ****** up and stay away from it then if they don't like it.
Honestly, I can't stand those 40 year old women who look down their nose at the show as if they are somebody.

Hehe I think we can shape this into Tomb Raider Forum nicely Phlip. :p

I believe the 'how not to do it' book was already written sometime during the summer of 2007.

Barbie 06-04-2011 08:07 PM

Most people i have spoken to who has slated the show have never actually watched it, they have just got this stigmatism that it is an awful degrading show to be watching. Those that watch it seem to get drawn in.

Daniel McIver 06-04-2011 08:16 PM

Alot of people i know , who turned off after bb9 are tuning into bb12 and alot of new people said there going to give it a go.

Agree 110%.

One time, well May last year we were asked about judging things by it's cover.
And I threw BB out as an example and the teacher did a survey, basically on things like:

'How many hate Justin Bieber? Why?'

Blah Blah.

And eventually Big Brother came up and it turned out the majority who hated it, which was basically about 23/28 people, didn't even give the show a chance.

One of the guys said, 'Because I don't want to get into it and end up like him.'
Referring to me.

:bored:

The C4 era will simply be remembered as Big Brother. The C5 era will probably ultimately be forgotten unless it does stay on air at least five years.

It would have to be pretty catastrophic to call it that whilst Daybreak is still on air :joker:

People already split BB1-4 as the early years, BB5-7 as the golden years, BB8-11 as the shit years. BB12 onwards will probably just become the Channel 5 years.

Gladiators mk2 was a completely different show imo, BB will be almost the same

joeysteele 06-04-2011 09:17 PM

It will be a success because on Channel 5 there is nothing to compare it to,it will be the biggest thing on there.

Masses slam the X Factor too,the really big programmes do get slated all the time but as long as they generate income for the Channel, attract advertisers to the time slot breaks and improve ratings substantially then that's the mark of success and on Channel 5 BB cannot fail to massively deliver on all 3.

Rob 06-04-2011 09:22 PM

I think they might well be near forgotten, the move to channel 5 is a new era for Big Brother, hopefully a brighter future than C4 gave it!

Disgrace that BB9 is in that era.
Infact, BB8 just brought that whole era down, BB9, BB10 and BB11 weren't given a chance because BB8 just ******ed it all up.

_Seth 06-04-2011 10:04 PM

^BB10 was amazing. <3

All those who haven't actually tried it but slate it are sheeps. :elephant:

CharlieO 06-04-2011 11:01 PM

the thing is people think the show is for uneducated chavs and teenagers where actually the true fans are really quite clever because we know how the house operates and stuff.
we know that picking who goes in is stupid. the majority of the audience arent clever but the majority of the obsessives are.
