12 Months From Now !!

Hi,

Does anyone else feel quite nervous to think that if Big Brother does FAIL on Channel 5 and they axe it after the 2 year deal ends that 12 months from now we may well be thinking AGAIN that in just 5 months Big Brother will be OVER again and we only have 1 more series left.

Jay

Fgs, talk about kill joy.

Live in the NOW. That's like saying, "do you realise I may be dead this time next year". Stop living in the future.

KG. 10-04-2011 08:25 PM

No NOT REALLY

_Seth 10-04-2011 08:26 PM

Yeah it is pretty worrying... =/ I can't help but be negative.

Wishful thinking only leads to disappointment.

... what?

joeysteele 10-04-2011 08:40 PM

I am not even considering that, they are still going to do celebrity BB, that for a start will greatly interest advertisers, with product placement opportunities the advertising could be competitive and massive.
BB will increase Channel 5s ratings bigtime, also with more viewer participation via phoning etc, the interest will only increase.

BB will likely be the biggest thing on Channel 5 and the income from it will be enormous,Channel 5 will be biting the hands of all responsible to sign it again in 2 to 3 years time and the fact this contract is only for 2 years will ensure that scenario takes place.

I have no worries that BB will be back for at least 5 years and maybe more.really no doubt on that at all.
On a Channel like BBC(just imagine the BBC having BB),or ITV then it may not have got past the 2 years but on Channel 5 and once Channel 5 see the gem they have bought, they will no way want to lose it. That would be madness on Channel 5s part.

Hi,

I am really sorry if what I said was wrong but I didn't mean to sound like a killjoy or as I was being negative or anything, I am the first person to say that I LOVE Big Brother (I've watched it since Day 1 in July 2000).

I just think its hard to imagine that next year we could be in the same position as we were in in April 2010 looking forward to what was supposed to be the last ever Big Brother.

I would be really happy if Channel 5 Re-Commission Big Brother next year until 2015.

SORRY again,

Jay

*forget it, I'm now deeply, deeply confused*

They will renew the contract I am sure of that, after all this energy and time being put in to get it now it would be madness to even if it was just moderately successful for Channel 5,to get rid of it so quickly.

Don't worry, many people have the same worries as you do but because its Channel 5 that has got it, I am sure it is safe for years to come.
Channel 5 doesn't much care about controversy in its programmes either so that's a double bonus.

Big Brother continued on C4 years after the ratings started to decline, so even if the amount of viewers is disappointing I'm sure it'll continue for at least 5 years.

No! i'm not gonna start thinking that far ahead i'm just gonna enjoy all the hype until the first series begins with a positive attitude

It continued because it was tied into a multi-year contract when the times were still good ratings wise.

Lol, read the above... I was trying to catch him out, OBVIOUSLY, I know Big Brother started in 2000. The series is always the year -1. BB1 - 2000, BB11 - 2010

Forget it !

I do have my worries about this 2 year deal. Would've been happier with the rumoured 5 year one.

1) CBB really needs a good line up to get people watching
2) BB12 needs to still be entertaining in winter AND with normal people as rumoured and not drag on
3) It needs to not feel like overkill having CBB9 follow in January

Ah...well here's hoping these 2 years have great ratings and they sign a 50 year contract and then the ratings can go down all they like. ;)

That's the worse cover up job I've ever seen.

Real 10-04-2011 11:40 PM

Lets not forget- low ratings for C4 who are way above C5 mean the ratings C4 had which were low for them mens C5 will be happy with the ratings they got when they dumped us. :bawling: The opening night will give C5 an enormous boost, and providing they get it right will continue to get great viewing figures.

bananarama 10-04-2011 11:41 PM

Failure of BB on CH5 is 100% certain if they break with the tradition of having a female presenter. Even more if they select the silly rolling eyes Brian Dowling and half baked sense of comedy which is about as amusing as a hole in the head........
