Ivor Novello Nominee's Announced
 
The nominations for the 56th Ivor Novello awards have been revealed.

Plan B has received two nominations, with Tinie Tempah, Katy B and The xx all getting nods.

The annual ceremony celebrates excellence in music writing and recognises talent from composers across all genres.

There are seven main categories, as well as a number of special awards to be announced on the night that include 'International Achievement', 'Outstanding Song Collection' and 'Songwriter(s) of the Year'.

The Ivors will take place at London's Grosvenor House on May 19.

The nominations for the Ivor Novello awards are as follows:

'Best Song Musically and Lyrically'

Villagers, 'Becoming a Jackal', written by O'Brien, published by Domino Publishing Company

Everything Everything, 'MY KZ, UR BF', written by Higgs, Pritchard, Robertshaw and Spearman, published by Universal Music Publishing

Weird sense of deja vu here. Weren't all the same people basically nominated for last year's Mercury prize (and it feels like almost a full year ago too)? Talk about unimaginative.

Plan B Takes 3 Gongs Home

The winners of the 56th Ivor Novello Awards have been announced at Grosvenor House in London.

Plan B won both of the awards he was nominated for, which included 'PRS for Music Most Performed Work' and the 'Album Award', as well as 'Songwriter Of The Year'.

The star, real name Benjamin Drew, was presented with the latter prize from Elton John and said: "I just want to promise to the world that I am never going to put out music that I don't like."

Tinie Tempah picked up his first Ivor for 'Best Contemporary Song', and also took up presenting duties by handing the 'Inspiration Award' to fellow rapper Dizzee Rascal.

The annual ceremony celebrates excellence in music writing and recognises talent from composers across all genres.
