How Old.....
.... do you think you'd (personally) have to be to take on a home of your own? The bills, the housework, general upkeep, the lot
I've done it since 17 and it was tough. Very tough. How old do you think you'd have to be/or were before you cut those apron strings (I had no choice or I'd have stayed 'looked after' longer) |
Moved into my own house about a year back now, only lasted about a week because of how boring it is. Once you've thrown a couple of house parties there is literally nothing to do if no one else is living with you. Moved back home.

I started paying my way when i got my first Job at 15, i contribute to the household and i pay for my own bills.
I want to move out but I couldnt move anywhere in Dublin, it's too expensive, would have to be in the country somewhere.... |
atm at least into your late twenties to find a job that pays well enough for you to pay a mortgage etc

Finding a job, any job, is a plus these days :/
|
I was 20 when I did it and I managed alright. Was working of course, and was pretty good with money.

I'm still decent with money.. I have to be.. cuz I don't have much of it and I have 2 kids who would spend all of it if they could lol
|
I'm terrible with money, mine is gone by a friday and im scrimping for the weekend, unless I know im doing something....im going on holiday in a month, I still have to get a passport (€100), Flights (€250) Accomodation (€150-250) then spending...then Im bak and its my birthday, then I have oxegen....I really need to win the lotto.
|
I was back and forth from my parents house and living on my own from 18-23. I bought my own house then when I was 23
|
I was planning to move out in 3 Years tbh, but after reading your's and Locke's post I've decided to wait until I'm like 19.
Far more important things to spend large amounts of money on, like buying myself a Convertible. |
I'm finished college when I'm 22 and if I'm not ready by then, definitely by 23. I need to move to England sooner rather than later.
|
I got my own place last year and at first I found it really tough. I was bored out of my skull coz I was on my own, then I got my Boxer and now I'm fine.
|
I was nearly 17 when I moved out. Always said I wanted my own place as soon as I was old enough. did it way before I was ready.
Had a job though, so it wasnt too bad Ended up getting my mate to move in with me to help with bills and that, but I wish now that I had stayed at home longer :/ |
Moved into halls a fortnight after I turned 18 and I coped fine with that and now live in a flat with two friends; obviously go home the odd weekend and during holidays but it's surprising how fast you pick stuff up and how quickly you realise the effort that gets put into keeping a house tidy and in working order.
|
Since the age of 16 I have kept myself, had a house, paid bills etc.
|
Moved out of my parents house when I was 15, got my own house at 16.
|
I moved away from my parents when I was 18, but it depends on the person and how cabable they are at managing their finances etc
