Oh well. At least we know.

Cheryl Cole has been officially announced as a judge on The X Factor USA.

The British singer has worked alongside Simon Cowell on the UK version of the talent competition for three years after her rise to fame in pop group Girls Aloud.

Cole is the third confirmed judge for the Fox show and will sit alongside Cowell and the previously-confirmed Antonio 'L.A.' Reid.

"I'm so excited to be taking part in the American version of The X Factor," Cole said. "I absolutely love it here in the UK, and with the talent they have out in America, I'm sure we're going to find someone very special. I can't wait to get started.

"I just can't decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me. He's tried to beat me for three years in the UK, and hasn't even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this."

Cowell said: "I'm thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with. She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent."

Mike Darnell, president of alternative entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, continued: "Cheryl Cole has the whole The X Factor package - She's an incredibly talented artist and performer, as well as a style icon, and she has that special charisma that draws in fans around the world.

"Cheryl's charm and chemistry with Simon have been a key part of the overwhelming success of The X Factor in the UK, and we can't wait to welcome her to the US on our air."

The show's executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz added: "As a young artist whose talent show discovery led to almost immediate stardom, Cheryl's career exemplifies the promise of The X Factor. Her empathy and passion for identifying and nurturing undiscovered talent has made her a huge hit with British audiences, and I have no doubt America will fall in love with her beauty, her accent and her incredible chemistry with Simon Cowell."

On the UK version, Cole mentored both Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry to victory and saw her act Rebecca Ferguson come second last year.

Reports have suggested that she will follow Simon Cowell's lead and quit her position on the UK panel, creating two available judging roles on the ITV1 show.

Auditions for The X Factor began in Los Angeles in March, where a record-breaking crowd turned out at the LA Sports Arena. Thousands more auditioned in Newark, Seattle, Chicago and Miami, where Gloria Estefan made a surprise appearance to pump up the crowds. Further auditions were held at MyStudio recording booths across the US where hopefuls could submit a video performance.

The final open audition will be held at the Dallas Convention Centre in Dallas on May 26.

The winner of The X Factor will receive a $5 million recording contract with Sony Recordings/Syco.

^^^^

Well Chezza does look hot there.

I am glad Simon and Chezza are pissing off to the USA though. They can bum each other over there. They were both pretty irrelevant during the last series of the UK X Factor.

*Hopes Boy George/Charlotte Church/Lily Allen become judges for the UK X Factor*

I heard Gary Barlow might be a judge though. They have to keep Dannii. Couldn't care less about Louis.

Beastie 05-05-2011 02:25 PM

So who will be the 4th confirmed judge?

I am guessing Paula Abdul?

camertone 05-05-2011 02:52 PM

Nobody knows cheryl cole in america!
They should have gotten someone like george michael whom america knows very well.
Plus, she is the worst judge on x factor. She has beauty but no talent.

Just makes it so obvious she only got the job because Simon wants to **** her badly.

Smithy 05-05-2011 04:22 PM

wow she looks terrible without makeup on O__O

and imo Nicole would have been a much better choice, she's an American herself and the public are familiar with her, Cheryl is a complete nobody over there

Mr XcX 05-05-2011 04:47 PM

The Bitch is Gone.

X Factor can now fall flat on its face now please. :)

As much as I hated Cheryl and Simon the show will not be the same without them. I guess I will stick to Strictly in the Winter then.

Irrelevant? What and Danni and Louis are relevant?

LOL thats just silly. Simon and Cheryl are A-list while the other 2 are D-list. Danni has never been relevant to music and she certainly hasnt been during her stint on XF. Only ever really successful as a featured artist for dance producers.

Good luck Cheryl! Start those elocution lessons if you haven't already.

XF UK is now doomed. God help it if Louis is head judge!

Didn't read the article - DGAF about X Factor.

But as if the silly yanks will even understand a word she says .
XF USA will fail, and when it does it'll be hilarious to see her crawling back to the UK - only then our version would of gotten stale and there'll be nothing to crawl back too.

'Conor 05-05-2011 06:32 PM

UGH despise her.

she has no talent.

That record is wearing thin now.

No-one in the US knew Simon Cowell or Randy Jackson before American Idol. They will get to know her and I don't doubt she will have pop hits over there before long.

Hopefully the show sinks in the ratings fast. I should think by now Americans are tired of reality tv. Plus the format is similar to AI so they might not care for long. Cheryl's accent will drive them up the wall. (this is the hope) can't stand her. She made a good start by pretending to be with derek hough though.

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 05-05-2011 07:43 PM

and if she's described as a style icon one more time.......:bawling::bawling:

utter nonsense!

they become friends after he starred in her video. She could get a much bigger American name than him if that was her game.

*knows he's wasting his time explaining to a hater*

I'm no fan of Cheryl Cole but since when did you need talent to judge it?
Afterall you're judging Cheryl, can you sing?

I'm more amused at the fact that there is a broader spectrum of genres in the American music shows, as opposed to the pop fad that the UK version has. Cheryl said "I've never heard of that song" to an Elton John number last year so god help her in America. She'll make a fool of herself no matter what.

Especially if she decided to perform on the show to launch her solo career over there.

No such luck. American TV is taken over by reality television more so than over here. Fringe (my favourite show at the moment, if you hadn't guessed lol) was moved to Fridays and nearly cancelled because of X Factor USA.
There's no escaping Simon frigging Cowell.

I think Parachute is being covered on Glee so that would introduce her music to America. But Im not sure she's releasing it or anything else before XF.

I don't think she used Derek Hough,at least we know she is on the USA X Factor now and won't be on the UK one.
