Battle Royale

oh my days.

Omah 15-05-2011 02:46 AM

What ?

:puzzled:

Shaun 15-05-2011 02:48 AM

It's a film. I am expressing shock and disbelief, perhaps amazement, with regard to it.

Tom4784 15-05-2011 02:53 AM

It's one of my favourite films. The book's quite good as well although it's pretty much a different entity. I'd avoid the sequel though.

Why didn't you say that, then ..... :joker:

Seriously, it's an excellent movie and very disturbing on the first viewing .....

Noel 15-05-2011 03:28 PM

It's an amazing movie and book. I read somewhere they're making an American remake as well.

Zippy 15-05-2011 03:40 PM

Ive had that dvd for years. One of my fave films ever.

Ive avoided the sequel because I heard its shyte and I don't want it to spoil how I see the first one...if that makes sense!

Blair witch 2 did that

Z 15-05-2011 04:12 PM

Saw it a few months ago as per Dezzy's recommendation, such a classic film!

Shaun 15-05-2011 04:13 PM

You stole the idea for To The Death, Greg :nono: be ashamed.

Yeah, sequels rarely match the original and remakes even less so ..... :(

Shaun 15-05-2011 04:20 PM

I read about the sequel on Wikipedia - it seems they changed the main character's personality from a slightly wimpy romantic to a cold-blooded psychopath. Very strange :conf2:

Tom4784 15-05-2011 04:57 PM

The sequel's a mess. Nothing about it makes a lick of sense.

Yeah they're cool, I wanted Mitsuko to survive.

Shaun 15-05-2011 05:16 PM

I was surprised at how little involved Chigusa was with regard to Rory's emote LOL

Tom4784 15-05-2011 08:31 PM

Yeah, she's kinda just there briefly. She's in it for a few more chapters in the book if I recall.

BB_Eye 16-05-2011 04:06 PM

Ridiculously entertaining and funny movie. See also... House.

Claymores 17-05-2011 10:32 AM

I found it an unexpected gem, as not something I'd heard of before (as either a book or movie) and randomly told my V+ Box to record.

BUT - I hated the ending. All through the film I was fully expecting Noriko and Nanahara to 'ride off into the sunset' as love's new dream.

When Kawada 'shot' them, I thought this movie has got me fooled again about what it is!! Brilliant and unexpected

But then disappointment - there is 'run off into the sunset ending' :(

The ending reminded me so much of the original release of Blade Runner where Hollywood had insisted that there be a happy feeling. Deckard and Rachael driving away...........

Ridley Scott, as you all know, wanted the elevator doors shut to be the closing frame to leave it to the imagination, but the Americans like happy endings.

As an aside - isn't the teacher, the guy who was the prison guard in Mr Christmas Mr. Lawrence

Oh jeez - that sounds one to avoid!

Guess the castings of the leads.............UUUURRRGGGHHHH

Moviefan 23-02-2014 01:21 PM

I loved this movie, was great,

I think the huger games killed the Battle Royale remake, which is good thing!

Niall 23-02-2014 01:59 PM

I need to re-watch this. I don't really think I gave it enough of a chance the first time around, nor do I think I really understood it. :suspect:

james130 23-02-2014 02:05 PM

I bought the limited edition Blu Ray set not long ago, with the art cards and comic and stuff.
It's been one of my top 5 films since I saw it for the first time about 7 years ago.
As already said. The sequel is horrible.
This, Death Note and Shogun Assassin are some of the best films ever.

Z 23-02-2014 06:56 PM

It's a great film
