No Big Bro for Republic of Ireland, OR IS THERE!

Big Brother will not be available for viewers in the Republic of Ireland when it returns in August, Channel 5 have confirmed. Speaking to Total Big Brother, Channel 5 said: “Unfortunately, we only have the rights to broadcast our programmes in the United Kingdom. We will be unable to transmit this programme in the Republic Of Ireland or make any online content accessible there.”

When the show was broadcast on Channel 4, around 70% of residents in ROI were able to watch the reality TV show on their television.

Channel 5 is available in Switzerland, but it is not available on cable or MMDS in the Republic of Ireland, like many other TV channels. But its terrestrial signal can be received in areas bordering Northern Ireland, or coastal areas close to Wales, also some parts of the Republic may be able to receive a weak signal via FreeSat.

But there is a way for views to access the channel using the TV guide on their tv's...

edit

It basically gives you walk through steps on how to tune channel 5.

Anyone tried it? Does it work for you? :)

Shaun 15-05-2011 04:18 PM

please don't do dramatic plot twists in thread titles, they play havoc on my heart.

Patrick 15-05-2011 04:24 PM

I swear to God, If I were in the ROI I would be in distress.

It's times like this I thank all those paramilitary groups in history that played a part in the partition of Ireland.

If it wasn't for you - I couldn't watch Big Brother or Vote x

7. Your set-top box will then show “Channel line-up complete”.

You have now added Channel 5 to your tv listings. Read below to find out how to view the channel.

I guess, the post would have been quite long then and whenever someone posts something massive it normally doesn't get read, so I broke it into
sections.

Anything else you'd like to criticize?
